Arizona Autism Charter Schools is Hiring an Instructional Coach - Phoenix Upper Campus - 24/25 School Year Near Phoenix, AZ

Instruction and Alignment Coach - Upper Campus (7th to 12th Grade) - 2024/2025 School Year

Arizona’s first and only autism-focused charter school is seeking a highly-skilled Instruction and Alignment Coach overseeing the instruction and program implementation in classrooms for the 23/24 school year. Under the supervision and direction of the Upper Campus Director; the Instruction and Alignment Coach will support and train classroom Teachers and classroom Behavior Staff in the implementation of Arizona Autism Charter School’s (AZACS) adopted curriculum and Program Alignment Manual. Positions are available at our Central Phoenix (Upper Campus) location. 

Candidates must be experienced in the correct design, implementation and oversight of research based educational strategies for students with disabilities, ABA teaching strategies, and have significant experience conducting these activities within school settings. The candidate must demonstrate excellent leadership skills and the ability to train, coach and motivate instructional staff in the classroom. The Instruction and Alignment Coach will work hand-in-hand with a school leadership to promote a positive school culture that focuses on implementing a best practices education model to achieve optimal results for students on the autism spectrum.

Duties:

  • Coach and mentor the classroom staff on implementing adopted curriculum and the Program Alignment Manual 
  • Maintains knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study.
  • Oversight of AZACS adopted curriculum, instruction and assessment 
  • Oversight of staff creating safe learning environment 
  • Oversight of accommodations and modification to the adopted curriculum
  • Responsible for curriculum development 
  • Provide professional development for classroom teachers with the planning and implementation of all adopted curriculum 
  • Conduct weekly observations and in-the-moment coaching with instructional leads and classroom behavior specialists
  • Analyze curriculum data bi-weekly to make instructional decisions 
  • Training and oversight of structured teaching planning, organizing, and implementing
  • Collaboration with ABA Managers for behavior and/or data analysis
  • Maintain substitute plans in case of classroom teacher absence
  • Maintain alternative staffing plans in case of absence where coverage is not available
  • Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
  • Collect, analyze, and report data in a meaningful manner
  • Celebrates the achievements and successes of students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years experience in working with students with severe disabilities, including autism spectrum

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience working with students with a preference for experience with Autism 
  • 3 - 5 years teaching
  • 1 - 2 years of coaching experience
  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis(ABA) preferred
  • Experience in structured teaching, center-based model preferred

Required:

  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Coaches, monitors, and mentors instructional leads/teachers working with students with disabilities.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. 

Working Conditions:

Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.
