Job Overview:

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Planning and Inventory Control (PIC) Manager will lead, coach, and mentor the Planning and Warehouse teams. This position plays a key role in partnering with internal stakeholders as well as coordinating and optimizing production schedules to meet customer demands and ensuring efficient operations. This individual will collaborate with Sales, Supply Planning and Production to create capacity plans, ensure raw material availability, and drive inventory management to ensure on-time and in-full fulfillment of customer demands. This role has a significant impact on customer service and production activity and therefore the PIC Manager must be a creative thinker with sound decision making ability that acts with the customer in mind

Job Requirements and Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies, processes, procedures, policies, and systems required to execute the master production schedule and material requirement plan while driving improvement in customer satisfaction and product lead-times.
  • Ensure that the inventory of materials supports manufacturing and service requirements to meet customer on-time delivery while meeting company inventory targets.
  • Work effectively with the Management Team, develop objectives/KPIs and ensure the organization's effective fulfillment of such goals.
  • Establish, track and report on delivery status, production capacity, materials, and other key performance metrics.
  • Direct the Planning and Warehouse teams by setting and prioritizing objectives, duties and tasks as well as assessing ongoing performance.
  • Coordinate and lead the SIOP process facilitating decisions for demand, supply capacity and inventory planning to optimize the utilization of business resources and to meet customer expectations for delivery.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to optimize inventory replenishment strategies for both stock items and the arrival dates of non-stock/purchase direct items in order to maintain consistent flow of jobs through the production process.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of the perpetual inventory system.
  • Lead initiatives to improve and optimize planning processes and systems resulting in enhanced supply delivery and efficient coordination of materials and resources used in manufacturing processes.
  • Implement inventory management strategies to optimize inventory levels and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.
  • Responsible for all facets of production schedules accounting for capacity, material availability, and lead-time constraints such as but not limited to, receiving, production status, and inventory control as it impacts customer order status.
  • Work to ship orders on time – estimate and eliminate any past due.
  • Collaborate on the successful development and production launch of new products.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in planning and inventory management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience effectively managing a broad range of materials functions within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, identify root cause(s) and develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Proven track record in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence through lean manufacturing approaches.
  • Experience in leading and developing high performing teams.
  • Ability to use knowledge, experience, and skills to lead and develop a team in a corporative coaching manner.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite programs: Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, etc.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, operations, or supply chain related field.
  • Seven to ten years of progressive responsibility in a Planning or Materials management position.
  • Advance proficiency with MRP and Warehouse/Inventory software in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • APICS / CPIM certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with Epicor ERP system.
  • Track record of continuing education, or active professional society membership.
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and demanding environment.
