Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

The X-Ray Technologist is an integral part of the Hillcrest Hospital South team. Under the supervision of the Radiologist and Radiology Director, the X-Ray Technologist will be responsible for performing all routine diagnostic and therapeutic radiographic procedures and producing quality images while applying both radiation and physical safety measures.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments
  • Assists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving the operation of radiographic equipment and other devices as necessary.
  • Obtain complete history and position patients using immobilization when necessary and explain the procedure to patients.
  • Calculate appropriate exposure factors and evaluate images for diagnostic quality
  • Assist Radiologists and other health care practitioners with invasive procedures
  • Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure safety and comfort during the exam
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with regulations and ensure patient/employee safety
  • Evaluate images for technical quality, and exposure, and transmit to PACS
Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

  • Graduate of an accredited two-year Radiologic Technology training program in a school approved by the Council of Medical Education of the AMA
  • Possess an American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and current BLS for healthcare providers
  • One year of direct experience is preferred
