McConway & Torley is currently searching for a Machinist Tech Lead.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

What you’ll do:

• Use indicators and various measuring tools.
• Work independently in loading and unloading of parts in machine.
• Perform Quality inspections. 
• Operates overhead cranes and forklift to transfer materials.
• Read engineering drawings.
• Perform machining setup changes
• Troubleshoot machine errors
• Assist newer machinists through issues
• Multi-task and tend to multiple machines regularly
• Adjust machining programs (specifically Mazak) to get desired results
• Must be able to operate complex Mazak programming on precision parts and check tight tolerances
• Must be able to write programs from scratch, build new fixtures, and setup machining practices for new parts.
• Must be able to troubleshoot machine errors, faults, and jams. Must be able to fix the issues and/or lead maintenance efforts.
• Must be able to order spare parts, tooling, and inserts. Must be computer savvy.

What you’ll need:

• Must be available to work any shift, but the shift will be steady once assigned.
• Must be able to use basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measurers
• Must be able to run basic machining machines. Load a part, set it up, and run the machine.
• Must have the ability to function and communicate in a team setting
• Must be attentive to detail
• Must be punctual, predictable, and have regular attendance
• Must be able to stand for long durations
• Must be tolerant to extreme temperatures
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
• Must have a good attitude and be adaptable to changes
• Must follows all safety requirements per safety department, JSA, supervision, and others
• Must be available to work either shift and overtime as necessary
• Must be able to lift up to 75lbs
• Must be able to follow a strict safety program
• Must be willing to train and help other machinists

Working Conditions:

• Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
• This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
• Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant
