Summary :

As the Maintenance Technician for St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, you’ll provide general maintenance and basic repairs in a professional manner that assures safety, efficiency, and procedures.

Position Responsibilities :

• Inspect all buildings and facilities and initiate repairs.
• Perform maintenance in plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, and other areas as needed. More complex issues will require referral to professionals for repairs.
• Provides ground maintenance services as needed, including but not limited to cutting grass, trimming trees and / or bushes, edging sidewalks and / or other borders, weed control, and blowing landscape debris.
• Performs ground equipment repair and preventative maintenance
• Maintains / monitors irrigation systems, including sprinkler timers
• Provides janitorial / custodial support services to staff, including but not limited to internal and external buildings and grounds, such as cleaning offices, taking out trash, cleaning restrooms and kitchens as needed.
• Responds to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
• Work cooperatively with staff to schedule and complete repairs.
• Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
• Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any immediately correctable to the supervisor.
• Perform spot checks on equipment to ensure proper working conditions.
• Move furniture and office equipment as requested. Set up the Cana ballroom and meeting rooms as directed to accommodate parishioners, guests and paying customers.
• Assists in maintaining inventory of materials, parts, supplies, tools and equipment.
• Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
• Adhering to safety training and protocols daily and taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.
• Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications :

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in maintenance related work.
• Reliable transportation
• Valid driver license

Minimum Knowledge and Skills :

• Must have working knowledge of general maintenance tools.
• Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
• Must have good written and verbal skills.
• Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Physical Requirements :

The position requires the following physical demands including :

• Lift 50 lbs
• Work outside in the heat in excess of 100 degrees
• Operate small machinery, including riding lawnmowers.
