Description The person in this position works as a member of a team cleaning, maintaining, trouble shooting, and servicing buildings and grounds that encompass slightly more than ½ of an entire city block and parts of which are three stories tall. This facility includes a school and so proper background checks will be required and safety training will be a part of the application process. These buildings require outside maintenance on heating and cooling units as well as developing plans for structural maintenance: brick, mortar, wood, etc. These buildings require interior maintenance: locks and keys, door handles and other hardware, plumbing fixtures, boilers, circulation motors, electrical panels, security equipment, bell tower equipment, repairing or replacing furniture and fixtures, painting, etc. This position will be working with cleaning equipment, security systems, elevators, electricity, small and large motors, various types of equipment, large exterior chillers, interior boilers, circulation motors, thermostat controls, service of summer and winter maintenance vehicles, electrical panels and shut-offs, repairing light ballasts, natural gas pipes and shut-offs, water pipes and shut-offs, etc.
The Skilled Maintenance worker works as a member of a team with the maintenance supervisor, other custodians/maintenance technicians, school and parish faculty. They assists in opening the building each morning and are responsible daily the cleaning of the gym, hallway outside the gym, hallway between gym and enrichment, the Enrichment/Library Room, the hallway from the Enrichment/Library room to the parish Center, the bathrooms in the Enrichment/Library Room and Parish Center Hallway. These areas include counters, windows, floors, doors, railings, garbage removal, etc. They are also responsible for doing checks of the Parish Center for anything that might have accumulated during an evening meeting and doing any necessary touch up cleaning. They check the playgrounds and areas around the School for trash and trash removal. On the second and third floor they visit school offices, restrooms, and do any necessary follow up cleaning required. The position requires noticing the condition of spaces cleaned, restocking supplies as needed, informing Maintenance Supervisor of any repairs necessary. The Skilled Maintenance Worker is on call for special emergencies throughout the time present in in any of the classrooms, hallways and restrooms requiring clean up or assistance for the teachers. The employee is on call throughout the day for set ups and break down of spaces. Some holiday and weekend work may be necessary with overtime pay, and on different days the Church itself is cleaned. The employee works in the presence of children and must honor all policies and procedures established by the Archdiocese of Denver and Good Shepherd Catholic Parish for the care of children. The Skilled maintenance Worker is a mandatory reporter of any information regarding child abuse. and is part of a team creating a safe and secure environment for the children and parishioners.
