Description
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. The safety and well being of the children at all times.
2. Promote Christian morals and values through the modeling of behavior, manners, and teachings.
3. Follow all State of Colorado Licensing Rules and Regulations and the Colorado Shines rating guidelines.
4. Plan the daily routine of the classroom within the guidelines of the overall center schedule. Lesson plans should be completed and posted in the classroom each Friday.
5. Ensure that the classroom is ready for a rating from Colorado Shines, or CLASS.
6. Efficient arrangement and cleanliness of the classroom including the toys, centers, and storage areas.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Plan developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
2. Provide daily instruction to preschool/pre-k students; assume responsibility for the leadership and management of the classes assigned.
3. Work as a member of the preschool/pre-k team.
4. Decorate the classroom using as much of the children's artwork/class projects as possible, and change the classroom bulletin board in the hallway each month.
5. Label a cubby and mailbox for each child.
6. Record each child's individual progress and complete the evaluation of children semi-annually. Conferences with parents are done twice a year.
7. Record accurate attendance daily and notify the Director if a child is absent without explanation.
8. Complete accident reports for children if needed, have it signed by the Director, and a copy given to the parent.
9. Should a child seem ill, consult the Director, his/her temperature may be taken, and the parents notified.
10. Become familiar with each child's file (allergies, (un) authorized pickups, custody disputes, birthdays, etc.).
11. Reinforce all policies and procedures of the parent handbook.
12. Be aware of all emergency, tornado and fire drill procedures.
13. Plan a calendar for summer camp, which includes; religion, art, science, language, cooking, movement, field trips and water play activities.
14. Responsible for maintaining consistent and appropriate discipline. Report any problems or concerns to the Center Director and write a Behavior Report, if necessary.
15. Maintain high standards of professional ethics in regard to the children, parents, and teachers.
16. Complete 15 hours of continuing education each year.
17. Participate in church/parish-related activities.
Qualifications
Job Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Meet or exceed the requirements listed in the State of Colorado Rules Regulating Child Care Centers
• Associates Degree in ECE or Group Leader Qualified
• Complete the training requirements listed on www.coloradoofficeofearlychildhood.com
• Required to take the Safe Environment Class
