Salary Range: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 Salary

Description

Position Overview

The Gift Shop Manager will be a practicing Catholic. This position is responsible for the supervision and administrative work of our parish gift shop. Responsibilities are performed with considerable independence, with oversight from the Director of Finance and Operations. Inventory controls and merchandising is purchased using information gathered from the sales and marketing plan and sales potential. This individual will also work with the Director to ensure compliance with Archdiocesan policies and local, state, and federal regulations. This position supervises both paid part-time employees and volunteers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities (not all-inclusive)

  • Supervises daily operation of the gift shop; meets, greets, and assists customers in selecting gifts and other merchandise.
  • Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of the Lightspeed POS system and reconciliation to the parish financial system.
  • Helps the Director develop the annual operating budget for the gift shop.
  • Ensures day end procedures are maintained and prepares weekly bank deposit, provided to the Parish Accounting Manager.
  • Maintains appropriate files for accounts payable and inventory.
  • Ensures proper coding of invoices and timely payment of outstanding invoices.
  • Maintains vendor files and relationships.
  • Organizes the sales floor for the display and presentation of merchandise for effective support of sales; changes displays regularly with a consideration to buying audience and season.
  • Responsible for the annual inventory of merchandise and reconciliation to parish records.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications


Job Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Graduation from high school, supplemented by courses in merchandising and business, supervision experience and experience in sales and buying for retail.
  • Minimum of three years in a similar role.
  • Flexibility as hours can be 45 plus per week including weekends and occasional weeknights.
  • Desired experience with Lightspeed POS system or other retail POS system.
  • Desired experience working in a parish setting that operates a gift shop.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize many concurrent tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong experience using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Creative and quick intellect, coupled with strong business judgement and an analytical mindset.
  • Can lift 40 pounds or more.
