Archdiocese of Baltimore is Hiring a Coach & Physical Education Teacher, High School (EX) (2024-2025) - Archbishop Curley, Baltimore MD Near Baltimore, MD
The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Athletic Director and P.E. Department Chair. The candidate is expected to provide the necessary leadership and knowledge to help plan, organize, and help be responsible for a comprehensive interscholastic football program, and to carry out the objectives of the athletic department and Archbishop Curley High School. Qualified candidates should possess strong communication, organizational, motivational, teaching, and coaching skills. The individual should be a person of high character and values that will set a positive example for all students at Archbishop Curley High School.
Essential Functions
- Create and execute instructional practice plans.
- Execute strength and conditioning plans.
- Develop student-athlete competence and confidence.
- Enforce team policies, beliefs, and philosophies in sportsmanship, integrity, accountability, and perseverance.
- Some administrative work: Managing and tracking rosters, tournament registrations, monitoring attendance, confirming transportation, inventory management, and website management
- Maintains high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teaching of the Catholic Church
- Plans and implements instructional programs with clear objectives in line with the Archdiocese of Baltimore and State of Maryland Standards.
- Creates an instructional environment conducive to learning.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of student's progress and development, in a timely manner.
- Teach physical fitness, and individual and team sports, utilizing appropriate learning activities.
- Motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness, and appropriate social and emotional adjustment that discovers and develops talents of students in physical achievement.
- Communicates standards, achievements, and deficiencies to students and parents through email, phone calls, conferences, and electronic grade book.
- Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students both in and outside of the classroom.
- Previous coaching and Football experience at the high school/college level 3-5 years
- An ideal candidate will have experience teaching all levels of secondary Physical Education
- Qualifications needed for MSDE secondary certification.
- High-level organizational and communications skills
- Flexible professional schedule to handle practices, games or tournaments
