Position: Boys Head Tennis Coach Position Summary: Archbishop Hoban High School is seeking a Boys Head Tennis Coach.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organization skills, a successful coaching history, and a commitment to total program development. Additionally, the candidate will demonstrate the capacity to coach tennis in support of the mission of Archbishop Hoban High School and infuse our core values into the program. We are a private Catholic School located in the heart of east Akron and rooted in the Holy Cross tradition. Our Holy Cross educators nurture student achievement and growth through collaborative planning and execution of curricula and encourage an expectation of lifelong learning.
Position Responsibilities: • Implement and develop an overall vision for the program. • Reports to the Director of Athletics and directly supervises the assistant coaches and student-athletes. • Responsible for providing leadership and guidance to student-athletes and assistant coaches. • Maintain standards of team behavior and regard for team rules and expectations. • Promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship. • Solid knowledge of player development specific to high school tennis players and of OHSAA and NFHS rules. • Commitment to the program and hold all students and adults associated with the program to the same standards. • Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes. • Coordinate the development and promotion of the boys’ tennis program. • Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate student-athlete abilities initially and on a regular basis. • Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development. • Maintain tennis equipment. • Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance. • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Position Qualifications: • Active Ohio Pupil Activity Permit or the ability to acquire one. • Successful completion of online coaching training modules. • Supervise competition and practice during after-school hours as well as on weekends. • Proven record of supporting and motivating others. • Proven leadership. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Complete appropriate criminal records check and having attended or willing to attend a VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training is required for this position.
