Job Summary
The Claims Account Manager (CAM) - Workers Compensation position has primary responsibility for overseeing and managing all claims from assigned captive programs handled by third party administrators. The role also involves communicating effectively with the respective underwriting teams, producers, brokers, claim consultants and attorneys. In addition to analyzing contracts, financials and the overall performance of the assigned captive The candidate should have prior experience with captive or loss sensitive program structures. Strong California jurisdictional knowledge is also required.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the claims administrator’s service standards to ensure that they provide our insureds with quality and timely service in accordance with Arch's established guidelines
  • Monitor, manage and provide direction to the claims administrator on losses that have the potential to meet or have met the Arch reporting criteria and/or any losses deemed reportable
  • Ensure adequate ground up reserves of the TPA’s claim file and maintain current diaries to ensure effective claim management
  • Review and evaluate loss reports on each assigned program to identify trends and provide input and commentary to the underwriting department, as well as to identify reportable claims
  • Consistently demonstrate appropriate degree of customer/TPA/Underwriter engagement, responsiveness and sensitivity. Including proactive claim management and customer communication
  • Manage and direct any suits wherein Arch is named directly arising out of the assigned program
  • Actively oversee and participate in the management and direction of high exposure claims, directing defense counsel as appropriate
  • Manage and direct subrogation recovery efforts in partnership with the claims administrator;
  • Monitor and report claim results to Underwriting and senior claims management on an as needed basis
  • Participate in large claim committee meetings as necessary to secure internal approval for proposed reserves and/or settlement authority in excess of assigned authority
  • Conduct bi-annual reserve adequacy reviews of each assigned program
  • Conduct Best Practice audits of assigned Third Party Administrators; complete post-audit reports for internal compliance purposes; conduct informal wrap-up conferences with claims administrators to highlight key findings and areas of concern, if any
  • Occasional travel as necessary for conducting claims audits or other business purposes;
  • Ability to present at risk control meetings
  • Ability to review and interpret binders, reinsurance and financial agreements on each assigned program
  • Must be able to negotiate our position on reserve and settlements
  • Ability to convey a difficult decision in a diplomatic way
  • Must be highly responsive to all clients both internal and external
  • Must conduct himself or herself in a manner that will support and maintain the Company’s reputation for fairness and a high level of integrity
  • Must be highly professional and presentable
  • Other duties/special projects on an ad hoc basis.
Education & Experience
  • College Degree and/or 10 years Workers Compensation experience
  • Supervision or Management experience preferred
  • Proper Adjuster Licenses in all applicable States
  • Captive Claims Handling highly desired
  • Demonstrated ability to multiple jurisdictions
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high severity claims
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
