Arcanum Infrastructure, LLC is Hiring a Process Controls Engineer Near Baytown, TX

Job Summary: The Controls Engineer will design, develop, and troubleshoot the control systems for the chemical plant, perform quality assurance to support day-to-day operations and chemical manufacturing processes, and balance corrective maintenance needs and maintenance planning optimization.  Local candidates only, no relocation.Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform quality assurance on existing chemical manufacturing processes for the chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Maintain site distributed control system (DCS) and safety systems, troubleshoot issues to mitigate risk, monitor and address DCS alarms, propose solutions to fix issues and resolve problems as they arise.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas in need of process control optimization.
  • Evaluate efficiency of manufacturing technologies, instruments, equipment, and tools at the plant, propose and implement improvements.
  • Drive process control innovation in collaboration with leadership, keep abreast of new developments and innovation related to process control engineering.
  • Recommend suitable software solutions and automate chemical manufacturing processes to improve plant performance and production.
  • Keep process control operations within budget, without compromising quality, reliability, or efficiency.
  • Act as a resource on instrumentation and controls, ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations, document processes and prepare progress reports.
  • Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge and ability to design and implement control systems for chemical plants.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills to find a solution for or deal proactively with problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt methods in response to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles.
  • Must possess the ability to make decisions using discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical specifications and requirements, comprehend instructions and request clarification as necessary.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member to meet company goals, handle multiple assignments, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems, project management software, and Teams.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technical (ABET) institution required, PhD desired.
  • Ten or more years of experience in controls engineering within the chemical industry.
  • Experience processing hazardous chemicals in a process management safety (PSM) regulated facility preferred.
  • Three or more years of DCS programming experience required, proficiency in Honeywell Experion preferred.
