Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures, ensuring timely reimbursement, and maintaining patient records. Must have the ability to multitask and work with diverse population. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organizational skills and a background in medical billing to contribute to the success of our healthcare facility.
Responsibilities:
Work with a team of fellow medical billers, administrators, and coders to provide cutting edge solutions that will directly improve the healthcare industry
· Review/work denials on an explanation of benefits (EOB) & 835 remits. Files EOB's weekly.
· Ability to run and analyze A/R (Accounts Receivable) & Aging reports to follow up on unpaid claims.
· Send out appeals on claims that require an appeal in a timely manner.
· Submit required documentation to insurance companies as requested
· Research claims for information in order to process bills in a timely manner
· Communicate with insurance companies, adjustors and patients on a regular basis
· Correct errors and resubmit all unprocessed or returned claims to insurance companies
Verifies patient insurance daily and eligibility prior to admission and ongoing, as appropriate
· Prepares billing records involved in the completion of the weekly and monthly billing process per established guidelines for all payer sources.
· Processes and audits insurance remittances for payment accuracy to include adjustments related to contractual allowances
· Works with COO (Senior Biller) to resolve incorrect payments and adjustments
· Addresses rejected claims returned to provider from payer sources daily
· Compiles and assembles documents to respond to all payers’ Explanations of Benefits related to unpaid/denied or delinquent accounts per established guidelines
Preparing weekly reports billing reports to COO/CEO.
· Prepares and maintains all billing records and completes the weekly and monthly billing process per established guidelines for all payer sources.
· Monitors accounts receivables and reports at least monthly to CEO/COO on status of receivables by payer source
· Maintains and updates billing and payer rates in Electronic Health Records software
Experience:
- Previous experience in medical billing or related field (2 Years Preferred)
- Proficiency in medical coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10)
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
- Knowledge of medical office operations and billing processes
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Knowledge of electronic billing software and Medicaid/MASS Health and third-party payer procedures related to billing and maintaining claims.
· Knowledge of electronic health records software and procedures related to billing, maintaining claims, patient accounts, and accounts receivable.
· Keen sense of responsibility and the ability to work under pressure and changing environments.
