ARC of South Florida is Hiring a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) Near Miami, FL

Responsibilities and Duties:
A. Client Records
1. Keep papers for screening and staffing organized and in good supply.
2. Make and keep a supply of Screening Packets available.
3. Obtain and input data documents for each child: immunizations, physicals, OT/PT doctor referral forms, etc., up to date.
4. Make written and phone requests of parents in order to secure outdated documents and to give advanced notice of expiring documents.
5. Review post-screening files and complete the current and birth demographics forms and complete Chart Review and Pre-Staffing Checklist for our use.
6. Make and send copies of documents and forms to MDCPS, the EIP’s, the classrooms and main office as needed and requested.
7. Translate letters and forms into other languages as needed. Also, assist with translation of conversations as needed.
8. Work with the Children & Youth (C&Y) Administrative Office with Access Program.
9. Write and record case work progress notes and turn in monthly to the C&Y Administrative Office.
10. Other duties that are assigned.

B. Interactions with Families
1. Maintain positive interactions with families at all times.
2. Attend most parent/guardians education and support activities, i.e. Open House, Parents Night.
3. Participate in staffing meetings to transition children and out of the program.

C. Interactions with staff:
1. Cooperate with co-workers.
2. Follow recommendations and requests from supervisors including teachers, social workers, nurse, school principal and program director.

D. Training:
1. Complete initial orientation provided by program.
2. Participate in on-going, in-service trainings.
3. Attend required trainings through contract agreements of the Agency.

E. Other:
  • Strong written and verbal skills. (Bilingual a plus)
  • Participate in fund-raising activities and agency events throughout the year.
  • Present a positive image of Arc to the community.
  • Maintain organization of the School by filing paperwork, storing equipment and organizing supplies.
  • Attend community meetings needed for contract compliance and by Department Head’s directive.
  • Follow all Arc, South Florida policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related and additional duties as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Education
  • First Aid/Infant CPR within 90 days of hire.
