Arabesque Conservatory of Music is Hiring an In-Person Social Skills Teacher for Special Needs (Contract) Near Long Beach, CA

About Us:
Arabesque Conservatory of Music is expanding its educational offerings to include specialized programs aimed at enhancing social skills for individuals with special needs. Our mission is to provide a supportive, inclusive environment where students can learn and develop essential social skills that will help them navigate various social settings confidently. We are currently seeking compassionate, experienced, and dedicated In-Person Social Skills Teachers to deliver personalized instruction on a contract basis.

Position Overview:
As a contract Social Skills Teacher at Arabesque Conservatory of Music, you will provide one-on-one social skills training to students with special needs. These sessions can be conducted in the students' homes or through online platforms, adapting to the geographical location and individual needs of each student. This role is critical in developing and implementing customized lesson plans that focus on enhancing interpersonal skills, communication strategies, and appropriate social behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to the specific social skill needs, goals, and abilities of each student.
  • Teach a variety of social skills, including but not limited to, initiating and maintaining conversations, understanding social cues, and managing emotions in social settings.
  • Provide a supportive, patient, and engaging learning environment that encourages students to practice and apply social skills in real-life scenarios.
  • Monitor and document student progress, adapting teaching strategies to maximize effectiveness and student engagement.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and the educational team to provide updates on student progress and to collaborate on strategies for reinforcement outside of lessons.
  • Prepare for each session with appropriate materials and strategies to ensure a focused and impactful learning experience.
  • Stay current with best practices and methodologies in social skills training, especially as they pertain to individuals with special needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (Required)
  • Demonstrable experience in teaching social skills or a related field, with a focus on individuals with special needs.
  • Strong understanding of the social challenges faced by individuals with special needs and effective strategies to address these challenges.
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and adaptability in teaching approaches.
  • Reliable transportation for in-person sessions (if applicable) and access to a stable internet connection and a computer for online sessions.
  • Available to commit to a contract position with flexible hours tailored to the needs of individual students.

Contract Details:

  • This is a contract position; specific terms, including session times and duration, will be discussed with successful candidates.
