This role is for an entry level technical project support specialist who can effectively perform both onsite and remote troubleshooting as well as to provide responsive support and to efficiently resolve technical issues for a wide range of organizations. The primary objective is to have satisfied customers and to gain referrals for further company growth.

Responsibilities

This position will perform technical support for the hardware and software of smart meters and the smart meter reading IT infrastructure including phone/on-site technical support for water, gas, and electric municipal customers. Assist customers with troubleshooting of meter communications to the meter reading IT infrastructure. Maintain an appropriate relationship with customers and ensure that customers are satisfied with the services provided.

Primary Functions

• Provide excellent customer service/communications skills within the group, and the other groups within our family of companies with a focus on CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
• Perform software/hardware phone support and on-site support with our customers primarily on automated meter reading systems, but will also support drive-by, walk-by and manual readings systems as well
• Resolve customers' issues via past experience, and current working knowledge, or by using the knowledge management tool, which the Technical Support Specialist will help build and populate with knowledge for future use by the team
• Use the Technology and Project Management Team as a resource that can be leveraged to solve the issue correctly the
• first time
• Provide other services and training to customers in use and implementation of software, equipment, and tools used by our customers around our current suite of meter reading and conservation products

Qualifications

Mandatory

• Computer environments and skills – Windows, Linux, Networking, VPN
• Software tools – Microsoft Office Suite, networking tools, scripting
• Valid Driver’s License
• Excellent driving record
• Must be self-motivated
• Must be an effective communicator and be able to provide technical support by phone, remote support tools, and via emails.
• Provide Remote Support to clients onsite throughout Southern California
• Monitor client systems for performance
• Troubleshooting for system performance issues and following through to timely resolution and communicating expectations with customers
• Ability to install software and troubleshoot Windows Desktops/Laptops (Windows & Mac )
• STRONG Networking Knowledge
• Understand DNS and DHCP
• Respond to escalated customers support cases in a timely fashion

Secondary (not mandatory but preferred)

• Bachelor’s degree - preferred but not mandatory
• Project management experience (plus)
• Radio Frequency Engineering and communication experience and understanding (RF)
• Prior utility industry experience (big plus)
• Ability to work with tools and basic electrical knowledge
• Unix command-line knowledge
• Ability to write SQL database queries
