Summary

The Chemist I/II provides technical review of a select Chemistry Program.
Trends data and makes recommendations for changes in the Chemistry program.

Minimum Requirements

Chemist I
A four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a Physical Sciences discipline from an accredited college or university.
In lieu of a bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in chemistry positions equaling four (4) years.

Chemist II
A four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a Physical Sciences discipline from an accredited college or university plus two (2) years experience in chemistry positions.In lieu of a bachelor's degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in chemistry positions equaling six (6) years.

Nuclear requirement:
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.
These are conditions of employment at PVNGS.

Major Accountabilities

1) Provides program support for any Chemistry program.

2) Ensures the program and procedural guidance follows federal, state and industry regulations, standards, and licenses.
3) Trends and monitors program effectiveness to support program goals, recommends changes, and participates in coordinating program implementation at department level.
4) Solves basic Chemistry problems.
5) Gathers and compiles data as well as writes basic required reports and evaluations to support the Chemistry Program.
6) Uses the Corrective Action Program to document gaps to excellence in the Chemistry programs.
7) Reviews Chemistry data and takes actions to correct problems.
8) Performs basic evaluations in support of technical specialty programs.
9) Interfaces with other work groups (e.g., Radiation Protection Operations, Operations, Engineering) on assigned projects.

Hybrid Role:
This position combines working in the office and at home, based on the needs of the business. The schedule will be determined with the hired employee and leadership, but the ultimate decision is the company's.

Any PVGS employees may be called upon for random Fitness for Duty (FFD) testing during scheduled working hours. Employees, if off-site, must report to FFD at Palo Verde as soon as reasonably practicable, but no more than 120 minutes after being notified. Employees who are onsite when notified will have no more than 60 minutes to report after being notified.
