Applegarth Dermatology is currently hiring a Medical Assistant to work at our Valparaiso and LaPorte Indiana offices. We are a very fast pace office with multiple providers which make the work day go fast! Our Medical Assistants work a 4 day work week with no weekends, evenings or holidays. Must take attendance and job responsibilities seriously with a desire to always keep learning!

If you are interested in the Medical Field, we are willing to train this person to learn and work as a Medical Assistant within our Dermatology office. Great opportunity to learn and grow with our practice and providers!

Role and Responsibilities

· Prepare patients for examination and procedures, obtains HPI

· Possesses current terminology and dermatology knowledge required to perform day to day tasks.

· Proper/thorough documentation of progress notes and telephone encounters with minimal correction needed.

· Rooming patients in a timely manner.

· Proper room set-up for day to day use (bx tray, maintain room supplies) with cleanliness

· Proper room set-up for procedures (bx tray, proper equipment needed) with cleanliness

· Anticipates the needs and future needs of the Provider and acts to meet those needs, while maintaining proper sterile and non-sterile technique when indicated.

· Provide patient education as directed by the provider

· Monitor and complete the lab documents, bx book, telephone encounters,etc.

· Handle all clinical phone calls in conjunction with the providers

· Maintain and follow up with biopsy results for patients

· Perform proper wound care as directed by the provider

· Assists with autoclave procedures and quality controls

· Complete clerical functions as directed such as: prior authorizations, schedule new and follow up appointments, answer phones.

· Demonstrates proper judgment and decision-making skills when necessary.

· Coordinates with peers to ensure timely completion of assignments, manages time and multiple tasks at once.

· Anticipates the needs and future needs of the Provider and acts to meet those needs.

· Excellent customer service/friendly/professional/courteous

Multi-tasking, Flexibility, Telephone Skills, Customer Service, Time Management, Organization, Attention to Detail, Scheduling, Professionalism, Quality focus, Knowledge of basic computer software programs, Medical Terminology. Must be dependable and have a positive/friendly personality.
