Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our surgical team. As a CST, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and success of surgical procedures by assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in the operating room. Your expertise in preparing and maintaining the surgical environment, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and providing surgical instrumentation and equipment will contribute significantly to our mission of delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile, functional, and readily available.
• Assist surgical team members in donning sterile gowns and gloves, and maintaining a sterile field throughout the procedure to prevent surgical site infections.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon during procedures by providing appropriate instruments, sutures, sponges, and other supplies in a timely and efficient manner.
• Prepare and handle surgical specimens according to established protocols, labeling and documenting them accurately for analysis by pathology.
• Assist with positioning and draping patients for surgery, taking into account their comfort, safety, and adherence to surgical principles.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of surgical procedures and techniques, including the use of surgical instruments, equipment, and technology.
• Operate surgical equipment and instrumentation under the direction of the surgeon, ensuring proper setup, functionality, and maintenance throughout the procedure.
• Collaborate with surgical team members to facilitate communication and coordination during complex surgical cases, promoting teamwork and efficiency.
• Monitor and document patient vital signs, fluid intake and output, and other relevant data during surgical procedures, alerting the surgical team to any changes or concerns.
• Adhere to established safety protocols and infection control practices, including the proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials and sharps.

Qualifications:

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or equivalent certifying body.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent combination of education and clinical experience.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and sterile technique, with the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
• Proficiency in preparing and maintaining a sterile field, handling surgical instruments and equipment, and assisting with surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in performing surgical tasks, documenting patient information,
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize tasks efficiently amidst the demands of the operating room environment.
