Plastic Setup Operator - nd Shift (Train on st / rd)- Greenville

nd Shift Hours : pm-pm (MON-FRI)

Training will take place on st shift OR rd shift (Supplier to specify preference) st Shift Hours : am - pm (MON-FRI) OR rd Shift Hours : pm-am (SUN-THUR)

NOTE :

Onsite interview / plant tour will be conducted for all positions

Include - days / time when Candidate is available to interview onsite

Block time offered is MON-THUR : : am-noon, pm-pm and FRI : : am-pm

Duration : - minute with Supervisor

Job Summary :

Contribute toward the efficient operation of the injection molding department. Complies with current ISO requirements, good housekeeping, and all safety requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities :

Operate injection molding machine, per requirements of the print specifications and shop order.

Adhere to all safety regulations for the safety of self and others.

Assure that machine is operated with proper mold, and at proper temperature.

Perform at a level to maintain production standards.

May be required to work at any workstation to meet production requirements.

Inspect product to assure continued conformance to specifications.

When required, performs rework to nonconforming product.

Completes all documentation associated with the operation.

Maintains the workstation area in a clean and orderly condition.

May be required to train any new employee assigned to the area.

Performs other duties as directed by supervision.

Communicate efficiently with other shifts on any problems and troubleshooting.

Required to put in screws, caps and run assembly complete.

Required to put wire hole caps in parts when parts are not being assembled.

May be required to work in any department as needed.

Train new employees on injection presses.

Make sample parts and tag them for each order.

Ensure operators are completing inspection charts correctly.

Set up molds in machines per work orders and prints.

Run samples to ensure machine is ready for production.

Ensure all supplies and components are in the area for production and assembly.

Explain the operation the trainee will be learning and how it fits into the entire picture and process.

Explain the routing of the product before this task and afterwards.

Introduce the trainee to the area personnel who may be able to provide assistance when needed.

When the trainer must leave the immediate work area, the trainee should be informed.

Show where supplies and tools are located.

Lock-Out mechanisms are required on machinery before servicing or maintenance is to begin. Trainees are to be instructed of what a lock out / tag out is and what their responsibilities are when these conditions exist

Machines must be kept clean as possible to prevent injuries, machine damage and defects in the quality of the product. Explain the clean up procedure for the end of the shift and the shop order.

Do not leave assigned machinery running and leave the work area.

Keep hands away from moving machinery parts.

Safety measures must be used when lifting or moving product I baskets, drums, containers and cartons.

When a problem arises, press "STOP button immediately and contact the supervisor.

Do not tamper with electrical controls, switch boxes and air valves. Contact the supervisor if a problem arises in these units.

When loading machinery, make sure parts are properly secured in the fixture before starting the machinery.

Show and explain the pertinent information on the shop order and part drawing such as order number, order requirements, work centers, quantity and other requirements.

Express the importance of following the directions detailed on all documents and make sure rev levels are all the same.

Demonstrate the proper way to clean the work area at the end of the work shift.

Show and explain the importance of stopping the operation when a question or problem arises. When in doubt, DO NOT CONTINUE, ASK QUESTIONS

Show the trainee what the product looks like before and after the operation so they will understand what the operation is doing to the product.

Show the trainee the electrical controls and the proper use of each.

Demonstrate the emergency stop procedure including any electrical, hydraulic, air or coolant control units.

Show the trainee any documented instructions and express the importance of learning these directions during training period.

Check the raw material, in-process and finished product at the work center for proper identification.

Show the trainee where nonconforming (scrap) material or parts are to be disposed and express the importance of disposing of the item immediately.

Express the importance of properly handling the material or parts to prevent damage and injury.

When dumping a scrap container, do not mix different types of metal

Make sure an empty clean container is placed at the machine for finished parts, and explain how to get the piece counts of completed parts at the end of the work shift or order.

Make sure another container is labeled and placed next to the machine to hold any scrapped parts. Do not let scrap parts get mixed with conforming parts.

Explain and demonstrate the steps for starting the machine.

Explain and demonstrate the proper way to load the part in the machine emphasizing the position and rotation of the part.

Emphasize the importance of visually inspecting the die after each cycle to ensure the last part cleared the die.

Emphasize to trainee that if a part jams in the die and can't be easily removed, to contact the supervisor.

Emphasize the importance of proper handling of parts to prevent burns.

Demonstrate the proper way to clean the work area at the end of the work shift.

Show and explain where the heaters on the platens are, where the water heaters are, and the appropriate temperature they should be.

Emphasize the importance of producing a quality product, the need for continual inspections and getting it right the first time.

Show and explain the part print that accompanies the shop order and appropriate process sheet.

Demonstrate the proper way to remove flash from screw holes, wire holes, and on the outside of the part.

Demonstrate how to visually inspect every part % for tears, bubbles, flash filling, holes, or other defects.

Demonstrate the proper way to use the measuring equipment and how to inspect the different characteristics being formed.

Preferred Skills :

Language Skills - Good communication skills are key. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Experience working with consolidations.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Need to be able to exercise good judgment and decision making skills.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Other Skills and Abilities - Must be detail oriented.

Must be organized and have the ability and drive to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Education and / or experience High school diploma or GED preferred. Employee must be able to perform basic reading, writing and mathematical functions.

Computer knowledge and keyboard skills a plus.

Language Skills Ability to read and write. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, memorandums and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing.

Mathematical Skills Basic mathematical skills are required. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Reasoning Ability Ability to understand and carry out detailed written and oral instructions.

Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls

Required to bend, stoop and lift up to pounds on a regular basis ( requires assistance with lifting anything over lbs and has tools in place to ensure this takes place)

Specific vision abilities include close vision, color, distance, peripheral and ability to adjust focus
