Staff Development Nurse
The Staff Development/Infection Control/Employee Health Nurse is responsible for the evaluation of the Nursing Department in its delivery of quality resident care. Maintain standards of the facility as set forth by written policies. Responsible for Quality Assurance Studies on a continual basis with a desired plan of correction to be submitted to the Administrator.
RESPONSIBILITIES
·Frequent rounds to all nursing units to evaluate resident care and provide support and encouragement to nursing staff
·Establish Quality Assurance Studies to monitor the quality of care received by residents
·Develop audit tools as needed
·Educate nursing staff in the proper documentation needed for audit tool
·Educate nursing staff in the proper documentation needed for audit tool
·Responsible for compiling of audit information as requested
·Ensures all residents rights/dignity
·Consults with and receives input from nursing and ancillary staff
·Actively supports and keeps Administrator and staff informed of Quality Assurance issues
·Develops and maintains effective relationships with Administrator, medical staff, and ancillary staff
·Maintains effective communication skills with all facility staff
·Practices standard precautions always and follows specific precautions when applicable
·Maintains a surveillance program of investigating and recording infections
·Assists in development and implementation of infection control measures
·Monitors isolation techniques when in use
·Orients personnel to infection prevention and control
·Provides in-service training programs related to infection control
·Maintain liaison with all departments to ascertain presence of infection in personnel.
·Ensures that all employers have a pre-employment physical as required by state regulations
·Educates all staff designated as high risk for HIV/HBV exposure as to the risks associated with their position and the availability of the Hepatitis vaccine
·Responsible for ensuring all appropriate staff have a signed permission slip and waiver in personnel folder for Hepatitis B vaccine
·Acts as safety coordinator for employee injuries and provides evaluation, triage, Education, and/or nursing care to injured workers
·Acts as a coordinator of services for the injured worker to assure appropriate medical care and prompt recovery and return to work
·Acts as an agent of the company in providing nursing services to workers
·All other related duties as assigned by Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
·Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, B.S. degree preferred
·Current R.N or LPN registration within state
·Four years experience preferred with a minimum of two years of long-term care experience
·A minimum of two years previous leadership experience preferably in long-term care
