Anthony a Dover Co. is Hiring a Packer Near Sylmar, CA
As a Packer, you'll:
- Interpret work order information for all necessary packing parameters, i.e., shipping instructions or other products to be shipped with this order.
- Cut packaging material (wood/cardboard) to necessary dimensions with radial saw.
- Assemble cardboard boxes and wood boxes using air staple gun, nail gun and knife levers to lift frame crates.
- Wrap protective material around product.
- Start, stop, and regulate speed of conveyor.
- Insert product into crate and seals.
- Determine proper color-coding label per work order.
- Nail, glue, or close and seal containers.
- Labels containers, container tags, or products.
- Pack special arrangements or selections of product.
- Inspect material, product, and containers at each step of the packaging process.
- Record quantity completed and work order number in computer.
- Move packaged product to shipping dock using a forklift or pallet jack.
- Move door crates using a dolly and transports frames using transport carts.
- Construct lumber pallets using various tools such as staple gun, nail gun, pliers, etc.
- Maintain efficiency to 90% or better.
- Maintain work area in an orderly and safe manner per company rules and procedures.

- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills
- Highly detail oriented
- Ability to read a measuring tape
- Basic math skills
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat and use hands repetitive. for extended periods
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted, as needed to perform job duties
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move crates, boxes, containers, etc. weighing up to 500 pounds, assisted by non-powered equipment (pallet jacks, dollies, carts)
- Must have steel toe shoes
- Must have experience using a radial saw and nail gun
- Experience using air staple gun, and knives preferred, but not required
- Forklift Driver certification preferred, not required
