Anne Arundel Gastroenterology Associates is Hiring an Accounts Receivable Specialist Near Annapolis, MD

About the Opportunity

Anne Arundel Gastroenterology Associates (AAGA) is one of the top surgical centers in the country. This role entails working with compassionate, highly skilled providers and their professional support staff to provide efficient, patient-focused care in a private and comfortable setting.

The Bestgate Road office is located near excellent shopping and dining options and just a few miles from the Naval Academy. The office is easily accessible from the 50 and with much to do and see nearby!

The Accounts Receivable Specialist will work with EOBs, aging requests, appeals, and other billing-related issues in a queue.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Documenting accounts accurately and timely
  • Following department policies and procedures as required to meet payer and regulatory requirements related to claims billing, payer rejections and clean claim submission including procedures related to release of information, record retention, privacy and confidentiality
  • Providing information to AAGA leadership in identifying possible areas of concern that impact account billing or collections, accurately and in a timely manner

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-motivated individual who is able to resolve issues independently with an understanding of when to approach leadership for input and direction.

This individual will have an understanding of co-pay, coinsurance, and deductibles. Intermediate to expert experience in electronic claim submission and edit resolutions, third party payer insurance verification, collections and denial resolution process.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Must have working experience, to include interpreting EOBs, with all payer types: commercial, governmental, Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, and the ability to cross over into different payers
  • Previous experience speaking with insurance carriers and completing follow-up
  • Experience and ability to identify billing or payer edit opportunities within the billing system

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical Billing Certification
  • Experience with Anesthesia, Ambulatory Surgery and Lab billing
