Annandale is Hiring a Director of Projects & Special Events Near Suwanee, GA

Position Description: Support and lead the planning, organization and execution of employee, community, and donor events at Annandale Village. Work closely with the development, marketing, and human resources teams to promote and achieve event goals and objectives. Develop and project manage new strategic initiatives specifically targeted towards employee satisfaction. Develop and maintain positive donor, volunteer, and employee relationships. Act as a professional representative of Annandale both internally and within the community. Build, support, and execute internal DEI and employee recognition programs. Maintain fiscal responsibility through managing budgets, seeking cost saving opportunities and maximizing returns. Serve as a strong team player who is positive, customer service-oriented, and has a passion for Annandale and its mission.

Minimum Qualifications: Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize while completing multiple assignments. Strict attention to detail is required. Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills. Has the ability to work effectively with donors, volunteers, employees, and clients. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess a collaborative, friendly, team-oriented attitude. 

Four-year degreeand seven years related experience and/or 10 years training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point). Must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Class C Georgia Driver’s License, proof of vehicle insurance, and meet company policy regarding MVR requirements. Must meet state requirements regarding a GBI and FBI criminal history record check which requires fingerprinting. Must undergo and pass a drug screening and screening for Tuberculosis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Internal and External Events and Resource Development Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and strategic special event development strategy; events include, but are not limited to, the annual Golf Tournament, the Extra Mile 5k, potential Gala style events and Family Weekend.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and strategic internal events strategy; events include, but are not limited to, the employee retreat, employee holiday party, career fairs.
  • Create and execute stewardship plans for all event sponsors; includes post-event stewardship and yearly touch points.
  • Manage event committees and conduct productive and positive meetings to ensure accountability and the success of each event; engage external stakeholders, chairs and committees through regular communication to keep participants engaged and informed.
  • Work closely with Marketing team to develop and implement the marketing, advertising and social media plans for all external and internal events; adhere to strategic direction, key messaging and brand standards established by Marketing Department.
  • Provide thorough analysis of each event following the event.
  • Provide project management leadership for each event ensuring that all components are successfully executed; manage event timelines and enforce deadlines across the organization.
  • Create and maintain event budgets; efficiently manage events to ensure established revenue goals are met while staying within the approved budgets. Oversee financial reporting to internal departments and external agencies.
  • Ensure that Annandale receives the most advantageous financial outcomes through strong negotiation skills with vendors; oversee event contracts and agreements with vendors.
  • Become Super User of new Project Management tool.
  • Ensure all required licenses and liability/insurance forms are secured in a timely manner.

Employee and Leadership Development Responsibilities:

  • Develop and project manage events that support Annandale DEI efforts including but not limited to cultural fairs, employee recognition weeks, as well as national diversity and inclusion recognition.
  • Support and lead new Employee Resource Groups (ERG’s) to drive new initiatives targeted towards improved employee satisfaction.
  • Support in the development of our leaders through the creation and execution of new curriculum for growth within Annandale.
  • Development and execution of Annandale’s broad scope recognition program to include all departments across campus.
  • Work in conjunction with Chief Human Resources Officer to ensure a positive and professional workplace where people feel supported, connected and fulfilled.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule that may include evenings and weekend events as needed.
  • Perform other duties that may be necessary in the best interest of Annandale at Suwanee, Inc. to meet the personal service needs of Annandale Villagers.

Employee is required to lift up to 25 pounds and/or move up to 50 pounds (with assistance). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to transport (drive) and assist Villagers in and out of vehicles. Employee is required to perform CPR/First Aid.
