Shift-Full Time/Days

Job Summary: Primary duties include but are not limited to the receiving and distribution of medications throughout all departments in the hospital, Animas Internal Medicine, and Urgent Care.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Performs record keeping functions to account for receipt and distribution of drugs within the facility and its ancillary departments.
2. Tracks and audits lot numbers, NDC numbers, and expiration dates.
3. Pulls expired medications from use and coordinates return to reverse distributors.
4. Stocks medications in all areas of storage to ensure adequate supply for daily operational activity Provides reports as needed on drug inventories in all areas of storage.
5. Assists with auditing of drug ordering, storage, utilization and inventory control.
6. Monitors storage of refrigerated medications and vaccines to ensure compliance with refrigerated storage requirements.
7. Serves as the primary point of contact for clinical staff regarding medication needs.. Problem solves using critical thinking, prioritization and chain of command.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Certifications:

1. High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. CPhT (certified pharmacy technician) certification within 6 months of hire
3. CSPT (certified compounded sterile preparation technician) certification within 1 year of hire.

Knowledge, Training: Demonstrates the highest degree of integrity and honesty and is able to work independently and accurately.

Physical Requirements: Position regularly requires use of hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk to hear; and taste or smell. Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to use computer keyboard and mouse. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures: This position may be exposed to some compounds which have been classified as “hazardous” by OSHA. Hazards are minimal if safety precautions are utilized. This position may occasionally require the use of personal protective equipment during various tasks/activities. Personal protective equipment includes, but is not limited to gloves, masks, safety glasses and gowns.

Salary Range: $18.00-$28.26

ASH IMMUNIZATIONS AND VACCINATIONS REQUIREMENTS – Aligns with CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for Healthcare Personnel

Hepatitis B- Lab evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals

Influenza- mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year

Measles, Mumps, and Rubella - Lab evidence of immunity to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination

Varicella (chickenpox) - Lab evidence of immunity to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine

Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) - documented proof of immunization

Tuberculosis Screening- All new-hires undergo a two-step TB skin test
