Angelo's Landscape Group is Hiring a Landscape Maintenance Director Near Baton Rouge, LA

REPORTS TO: President

Position Summary:

Ensures quality and efficient landscape management for clients while achieving profit goals for the company and consistently improving market share. Responsible for leading all Department employees and the overall successful operation of the Landscape Maintenance Department.

The Department Manager will approach all essential duties with the company’s five core values in mind.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Scheduling:50% of the Time

  • Responsible for ensuring that maintenance service intervals are adhered to according to contracts.
  • Watching local weather forecast and making appropriate adjustments to the work schedule as needed.
  • Instructing field crews on season specific work such as fall pruning, fertilizations, weed treatments, mulching, etc.
  • Ensure work crews are scheduled with proper manpower & equipment needed to complete assigned jobs.
  • Daily communication with crew leaders regarding completion of jobs and adjusting schedule as required to complete any jobs not done as soon as possible.
  • Regular communication with other Department Leads regarding manpower, equipment, and upcoming project schedules.

Account Management:20% of the Time

  • Responsible for ensuring that maintenance clients’ properties meet client and company quality and appearance standards.
  • Responsible for understanding client needs and ongoing communication with Account & Operation Managers.
  • Manage all activities involving landscape maintenance services, including the coordination of all materials, people, and equipment required to produce a quality job.
  • Meet weekly with Account Managers to discuss any maintenance issues on properties, upcoming enhancement projects, and maintenance crew performance.
  • Ensure property inspections are completed on time by Account Managers and work orders are being completed & closed properly.
  • Track and analyze enhancement goals for Account Managers, contract retention, and efficiency of maintenance crews to ensure profitability.
  • Quarterly performance reviews of Account Managers with summary provided to HR Manager.

Employee and Safety Management: 20% of the Time

  • With assistance from Operations Manager, lead short, bi-weekly professional training sessions for field team members so they can advance in their overall landscape knowledge.
  • Communicate with crew leaders regarding job tasks, client requests, and schedule adjustments.
  • Regular communication with all field workers regarding company policies and procedures and report any policy infractions to Human Resources Manager.
  • Implementation and monitoring of any/all company policies as directed by Human Resource Manager and Administration.
  • Quarterly performance reviews of crew leaders with summary provided to HR Manager.
  • With assistance from HR Manager, hold short bi-weekly safety & training meetings with field crews to emphasize a culture of safety.
  • Document safety record of crews and work to minimize accidents to personnel and damage to equipment.
  • Document any safety or policy violations and report immediately to HR Manager.
  • Monitor driving safety reports generated by GPS program and address any unsafe driving immediately with drivers and HR Manager if necessary.
  • Meet regularly with Operations Manager & Shop Foreman to discuss daily inventory reports, damaged or missing equipment, status of trucks/equipment being repaired, and any future needs regarding truck/equipment purchases. Communicate meeting notes with President at bi-weekly meeting.
  • Supervise Operations Manager & Shop Foreman to make sure the Company’s property and facilities are being kept neat, clean, safe, & organized.

Administrative:10% of the Time

  • As part of the Company’s leadership team, you will meet weekly with other department leads and the company President regarding important topics and decisions that affects the health and direction of the company.
  • In accordance with one of the company’s Core Values, Continuous Growth, you should always be thinking of ways to improve and grow the company and be prepared to discuss such ideas with leadership.
  • Ability to make important decisions involving your department, in accordance with the Company’s five Core Values, and communicate such with President.
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on the growing & changing needs of the company.

Qualification Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Complete knowledge of Maintenance Department functions, geographic responsibilities and customer assignments
  • Ability to safely operate various lawn care machinery used by our maintenance crews.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service to managers, employees, and clients.
  • Solid knowledge of plant and turf identification and care, including some disease and insect knowledge
  • Ability to use standard units of measurement.
  • Basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, area and square feet.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, of the English language (Spanish knowledge is a plus)
  • Must possess a valid and current U.S. Driver’s License
  • Supervisory skills
  • Problem solving skills including reasoning and judgment.
  • Working knowledge of computer software, apps, computer hardware and computer servers.
  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office & Outlook. Proficiency in Aspire Landscape Software is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • College Education in a Green Industry related field (Horticulture, Landscape, etc.) or Construction Management. (Preferred)
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of professional experience in a related field. (Required)

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Occasional work outdoors at project locations.
