Summary:
Angel Fire Resort is seeking Snowcat Operators for this winter season. This position maintains high quality snow terrain, accommodates all Special Events, builds terrain parks, and promotes the Resort as a high-quality skiing experience.

Base Pay: Starts at $18

Environment: This is a physically demanding, outdoor, night time position which includes working long hours in variable (severe, cold, wet, adverse) winter weather conditions. Must be able to regularly lift/carry 100lbs.
Housing: Limited employee housing is available upon request. Employee housing is “dorm-style” and starts at $450/month. Other options available. A list of local rental resources is available upon request.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Grooms, maintains, and rebuilds ski runs, teaching areas, and tubing lanes.
- Assists Park Crew with building and maintaining the terrain parks as necessary.
- Builds and maintains lift marshaling areas.
- Maintains appropriate snow depth on runs.
- Maintains snow levels on accesses and around buildings
- Performs snowcat / equipment check-out at the beginning of each shift and check-in at the end.
- Operates snowcat / equipment according to acceptable safety standards at all times.
- Maintains radio communications with other staff on the mountain at night to prevent unsafe situations.
- Maintains any record keeping necessary according to policies and procedures.
- Maintains radio contact with Shift Supervisor and snowmakers to properly maintain the slopes according to all operational standards.
- Receives training and works under the guidance of the Shift Supervisor and Manager.
- Assists with vehicle maintenance inspections to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
- Maintains a high level of respect for resort property, including tools, spaces, vehicles, resources, and facilities.
- Completes tasks in a timely manner.
- As necessary, drives resort vehicles including ATV’s, snowmobiles, and trucks.
- Completes all tasks as regulated by State and Federal environmental standards and OSHA regulations.
- Tracks and properly stores all tools, supplies, and equipment used for the job.
- Shovels snow, performing snow removal around grooming equipment and other areas around the resort as needed.
- Maintains consistent product (snow) by adjusting grooming equipment.
- Maintains an awareness of surroundings and safest way to navigate the equipment by evaluating all directions and safety information available at all times.
- Farms snow from the sides of ski runs.
- Reports all incidents / accidents to the supervisor immediately.
- Works cooperatively as a member of the grooming team to ensure safe work practices are adhered to at all times.
- Completes log sheets.
- Refuels and performs routine maintenance on machines.
- Assists passengers with entering and exiting machine, ensures passenger wear seatbelts.
- Reports all unauthorized mountain use (such as sledding or moonlight skiing) to management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and at least one year of experience operating heavy machinery, or equivalent combination or education and experience.
- Valid Driver’s License with driving record insurable under resort insurance
- Ability to drive snowcats, snowmobiles, ATVs, and trucks in a safe manner.
- Ability to work overnight shifts while remaining alert at all times.
- Ability to work long hours for consecutive days.
- Proven mechanical aptitude.
- Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and awareness.
- Basic understanding of resort snow sport activities
