Anew Healthcare is Hiring a CMT Near Sarcoxie, MO

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the preparation, administration and documentation of medication and with providing residents total personal care in a safe and efficient manner. Accepts direction and supervision from an RN or LPN. Follows established regulations mandated by the state and policies and procedures of facility. Must be pleasant, respectful and courteous to all residents, families, visitors, and fellow employees at all times. Trained medication aides do not perform assessments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Essential Functions are the fundamental duties of this position. The employee holding this position must be able to perform these tasks satisfactorily.

Prepares, administers and documents residents' medications in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  1. Reviews the resident's complete medication and treatment record.
  2. Prepares the medications for administration in accordance with the physician's orders.
  3. May administer medications orally, rectally, vaginally, through the ophthalmic or otic route, via inhalation, or topically. The TMA must obtain authorization to administer any PRN medications that require an assessment from the RN or LPN, and such documentation must be recorded by the TMA in the medical record.
  4. Assists residents with self-administration of medication per physician orders.
  5. Documents after administration of the residents' medication in accordance with federal and state regulations and policies and procedures.
  6. Notifies the RN/LPN of all drug and narcotic discrepancies noted on shift.
  7. Counts narcotics with another RN/LPN as required and in accordance with established procedures.
  8. Reports effect of medications to RN/LPN as necessary.
  9. Collects urine/stool specimens as required.
  10. Takes temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and obtains height/weight as directed.
  11. Performs accu-checks.
  12. Re-orders medications from the pharmacy and checks medications in per facility system
  13. May perform non-sterile dressing changes including wound treatments to wounds no deeper than the epidermis layer of skin.
  14. Performs diabetic foot soaks.
  15. Provides hot/cold pack application.
  • Observe patients' conditions, measuring and recording food and liquid intake and output and vital signs, and report changes to professional staff.
  • Report and record residents' intake on meal percentage sheets and report low intake to charge nurse.
  • As instructed, assist residents with personal nursing care functions, including, but not limited to, bathing, dental care, dressing, hair and nail care, shaving, bowl and bladder care, and other personal hygiene care, and explain each procedure to the resident as care is given.
  • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties related to patient care, including, but not limited to, making and changing bed linens, filling water pitchers and delivering used glasses and water pitchers to dietary for sterilization, monitoring "reachability" of bedside call signal, as well as cleanliness of other bedside items.
  • Monitor and intervene in keeping mobility-limited and bedbound residents clean and dry, in addition to reporting the presence of any observed pressure areas to prevent decubiti, and provide skin care according to policy.
  • Serve between meal, bedtime and other nutritional snacks.
  • Report accidents and incidents when they occur, including all complaints and grievances made by residents and/or their families, and immediately report any time a resident is observed leaving campus.
  • Assist with and/or perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures such as the application of slings, elastic bandages, binders, etc.
  • Attend and participate in orientation programs, ongoing training, and educational classes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Administrator and/or DON.
  • Perform assigned tasks in accordance with facility policies and procedures, as instructed by supervisor.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Additional Responsibilities are marginaltasks that the employee may be asked to perform from time to time. The employee will be expected to complete these tasks when instructed by a Supervisor even though they may not be central to the position itself.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications pertinent to this position are detailed below, and may be listed as "Required" or "Preferred."

Required:

  • Completion of a Trained Medication Aide course and current State certification to practice.
  • High School Diploma
  • Nursing Assistant Certification or have completed state-approved nursing assistant program or be eligible to enter such a program and graduate and pass a state-approved competency evaluation within 120 days from the date of employment
  • Working knowledge of principal equipment, materials, machines, or tools used related to basic resident care, such as safety restraints, motorized patient lifts and specialized chairs, catheters, stethoscopes, thermometers, blood pressure cuffs, walkers, and wheelchairs.
  • Knowledge and ability to recognize and respond to the needs of residents, and ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • Can demonstrate sound judgment, dependability, and good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Has a tactful, pleasant, and friendly approach in dealing with residents, staff, guests, and individuals within the community.
  • Is capable of meeting the physical demands of the position as outlined below.
