Andrews University is Hiring a Young Toddler Assistant Teacher Near Berrien Springs, MI

We are looking for a dedicated, responsible, loving and creative individual to help teach and care for the toddlers in our center. You will be involved in all aspects of education and care for infants and toddlers. Background check and fingerprinting are required.
Work Hours: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Monday - Friday beginning May 28.
Proof of background check, finger printing, first aid, CPR and additional job related trainings are required and will be provided if not previously received.

Qualifications summary


  • Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma.
  • High energy
  • Must love children.
  • Degree or major in elementary education, child guidance/counseling, child psychology, family studies, or social work preferred.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities


  • The caregiver will be trained to assist in the classroom and care for children which may include distributing lunches and/or washing dishes.
  • Supervises a class without supervision.
  • Assumes the responsibilities of the Lead Teacher during the absence of the Lead Teacher.
  • Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.
  • Assists and coordinates snacks, meals, nap time and bathroom activities.
  • Provides the children with verbal praises and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.
  • Maintains the Crayon Box's professional attitude and work behavior.
  • Observes all rules and regulations of The Crayon Box and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
  • Assists in other capacities, as determined by the Director.
  • Ability to express themselves well in oral and written English
  • Follows the schedule, as determined by the Director.

Will supervise student workers, as determined by the Director

Qualifications


  • Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma.
  • Must be flexible to work a possibly inconsistent schedule based on the needs of our children.
  • Must have a warm and friendly personality with sensitivity to the feelings and needs of both children and adults.
  • Display a willingness to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the center's philosophy and mission.
  • Job requires much physical activity and a high energy level.
  • Previous experience caring for children.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications preferred but not required.
  • Willing to be trained in child related topics.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Physical demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

Work environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
