The Controller provides financial controls and reporting, and budgeting and forecasting. Provides guidance on tax and compliance issues, and contributes to the financial strategy discussions.

Essential Functions:

The essential responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Maintains all Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable financial records for the company.
• Responds to internal and external financial inquiries and creates necessary reporting (QuickBooks or other analysis).
• Maintains bank balances and remains cognizant of outstanding Accounts Payable invoices.
• Creates, obtains staff approval, sends, and follows up on invoices for new or completed projects.
• Oversees collection activities as needed.
• Reads and reviews any documentation that is attached to invoices for approval and accuracy.
• Sets up new clients and projects in company systems.
• Ensures accuracy of all financial statements and reports.
• Keeps the leadership team apprised of financial position and any issues that arise.
• Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), based on relevant laws and regulations
• Maintains current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state regulations, and current accounting standards
• Maintains the renewals on company insurance programs.

Periodic Functions:

Other areas of responsibility may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Prepares monthly financial dashboard and revenue projections for leadership team, Updates annual projections with actual figures
• IRA and HSA deposits, Pays contractors, Conducts Accounts Receivable review and collections
• Oversees Quarterly Tax Filings (Commercial Activity Tax), Participates in planning meetings with leadership team

Supervision Received:

Limited, works within established policies and broad objectives, but quite independent.

Education and Experience:

• Excellent skills in using spreadsheets and knowledge of financial systems
• Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Experience creating financial statements
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Well organized
• Problem analysis and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently
• Aptitude for numbers
• Education (degree(s) required):
  • Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in accounting
  • CPA Preferred

• Experience (years of experience required):

• Proven working experience as a financial controller
• 5-8 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
