Overview

This position is hybrid out of any AmTrust office. 3 days in office 2 days work from home.

This position will develop and execute on strategies to influence the profit and growth of a line of business. As an individual or as a leader of analysts, the role will focus on enabling and analyzing production and profit data, competitor behaviors, marketplace dynamics, pricing segmentation and UW analytics to monitor and understand core drivers of business. Will partner with senior leaders to formulate and execute on product, pricing and underwriting strategies in collaborations with field sales, underwriting, actuarial business partners.

Responsibilities
    Accountable for achieving / exceeding revenue and income targets for assigned line of businesses or segments.
  • Performs ongoing product management and development including deep dive analyses to formulate data and market driven recommendations for product, rule, rate, or underwriting changes.
  • Key contributor to enhancements of existing products and development of new products, including but not limited pricing strategies, segmentation enhancements, DOI filing implications, ISO interactions, interactions with UW rules and internal execution.
  • May lead small team of analysts to monitor and interpret business results, reacting quickly and effectively to growth and profit challenges.
  • Develop and implement monitoring standards to assess business results such as profitability analysis, mix management, rule analysis, initiative post-monitoring, claims trends, etc. to understand root cause and recommend corrective actions.
  • Drive a deep understanding of marketplace insights, competitive intelligence, and regulatory issues to inform solutions (product, rate/price, appetite)
  • Partners with Sales, Underwriting and Service to meet stated product goals, best practices, procedures, and service standards.
  • Influences, collaborates, and makes recommendations to product leaders and field partners on business strategies. Initiates and drives strategies based on analysis of data and market insights with input from business partners.
  • Trains, assimilates, and formally manages performance of team members.
  • Presents findings of analysis and partners with leaders to provide strategic overviews to senior management on a routine basis.
  • Provides guidance to the development of workflow practices across Product Management that reduce redundancy and establish consistency.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Personal Lines or Commercial Lines Product (Management or Development), Pricing and/or Underwriting in a comparable role is required
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a discipline requiring critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Analytical & problem-solving skills, including the ability to encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes, and solutions
  • Working knowledge of Pricing and Actuarial techniques.
  • Comfort level with presentation and relationship management skills with an emphasis on customer focus, collaboration and partnering to obtain results
  • Able to effectively conduct competitor analysis & gain an in depth understanding of market dynamics including competitor underwriting initiatives, rate level analysis, forms analysis as well as economic trends & emerging issues in the market
  • Solution-oriented individual with ability to think strategically and implement change
  • Experience pursuing long-term goals while balancing the short-term needs of the organization
  • Solid knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint. Moderate knowledge of SQL.
