the job: 

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Packaging Development Intern to join our dynamic team for a 6-month term working with our packaging development team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to work under the guidance of our Senior Manager of Packaging Development and contribute to the success of various projects in the field of packaging design and development. 

location: Brooklyn, NY

salary: $16-$20 p/h

what you’ll do:

• Track New Product Development Testing timeline and follow up on deliverables.
• Assist Lab Technician to conduct package evaluation, distribution testing organizing, and maintaining the laboratory.

• Write, optimize, and review technical protocols and reports.
• Manage samples, including receiving and shipping packages to/from suppliers and internal cross-functional teams, and create an organizational system by category.
• Be responsible for providing artwork and packaging color development assets (e.g., die lines, component codes, receive/release artwork to suppliers, ship/receive/manage color targets and samples internally/externally, and manage proof approval).
• Order components from the warehouse or external suppliers.
• Perform other necessary or required duties.
• Assist in the development and management of Packaging Development process optimization programs.
• Assist in maintaining the packaging test database or other data management system.
• Provide support for the Packaging Spec System (e.g., release/receive specification from supplier and internal teams under supervision, Optimize specification system).

must-haves: 

• Student must be working towards an undergraduate degree with the minimum credit hours to be classified as a junior or senior in their studies and have taken several related Engineering / Science courses to the field in which they will be assigned.
• Student must be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Good communication skills and resilience, to be able to deal effectively with all levels of the organization and suppliers.
• Good organization skills to manage the documentations, materials, and information.

nice-to-haves:

• Experience in a laboratory environment is a plus.
• Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Adobe Acrobat is a plus.
• Experience using laboratory measurement and test equipment (weight scales, force gauge, torque gauge, calipers, etc.) is a plus
