the Job

Amika is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Creative Department Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship is ideal for someone pursuing a career in creative fields such as advertising, graphic design, or video/photo production. The ideal candidate is someone passionate about the beauty industry and inspired by pop culture, fashion, design and music with an eye for trends. This role will include supporting the creative team with digital crop guides and templates, social content, and photo shoots. Our intern will engage in a variety of projects that span different aspects of the creative process, from initial ideation to final execution, providing a comprehensive understanding of the creative industry. 

salary: $16h 
location: remote. must be based in nyc and able to attend in office worksessions 

what you'll do

  • Actively contribute to a wide array of creative initiatives, including supporting photoshoots, events, VM, and digital content, providing a robust, hands-on learning experience in a vibrant, multi-disciplinary creative environment.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions, contributing ideas and gaining insights into the conceptualization and development of campaigns.
  • Establish and maintain a digital library of creative swipe, including advertising samples, design concepts, multimedia clips, and other inspirational materials.
  • Regularly update and archive digital files to maintain an organized and current database of all creative assets, including images, videos, graphics, and project files.
  • Participate in multimedia content production, including photo video shoots and post-production workflows. 
  • Assist in the procurement, management, and inventory of photoshoot samples and our prop closet. 

signature project ownership:

As a Creative Department Intern, you will be entrusted with a signature project that you will own and manage throughout the duration of your internship. This project will be tailored to match your interests, skills, and align with our business objectives. This project will offer you a unique opportunity to lead an initiative from concept through to execution. You will have the chance to showcase your creativity, strategic thinking, and project management skills, while receiving guidance and feedback from experienced mentors. Owning this project will allow you to make a tangible impact on our company and provide you with a substantial achievement to highlight in your professional portfolio. This initiative is designed to empower you, foster your independence and provide a real-world experience that bridges academic learning with professional application.

must haves

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant degree program (e.g., Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, Film, Photography, etc.). 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members. 
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving. 
  • Thrive in a fast-paced multi-channel environment. 
  • Ability to successfully juggle multiple assignments & ensure project tasks are prioritized as needed to meet objectives.

nice-to-haves

  • Portfolio showcasing design projects and demonstrating creative abilities.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) & Figma.
