The VP-Asset Management will have significant transaction-based responsibility. The candidate will be responsible for providing analytical and managerial support for a portfolio of institutional-quality loans. The Individual should strive to understand the sponsor’s operating performance and needs and work to build strong working relationships with borrowers and other constituents. Through its debt business, Amherst1 pursues two distinct credit strategies in mortgage-backed securities and commercial real estate lending. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform financial, operational, valuation, underwriting, and transactional analysis Assist with the servicing & asset management functions for a portfolio of CRE investments Conduct financial analysis of credit and collateral of borrowers, with emphasis on data accumulation and trend analysis Lead the negotiation, underwriting, analysis, and documentation of loan modifications Assist in the negotiation of loan documents and facilitate the closing process of new loan originations Assist in the negotiation of loan documents; facilitate the closing process of new loan originations; manage coordination of post-origination activities and integration of Loan Complete recurring servicing reporting requirements for warehouse and CLO debt facilities Calculate expected investment returns monthly based upon updated financial assumptions Interact with various management staff Travel to client sites; and additional ad-hoc responsibilities. Education, Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree required, preferred in Real Estate, Accounting, Finance, or Economics 5-10 years of applicable real estate experience in the commercial real estate sector (commercial bank, investment bank, private equity, specialty finance, real estate finance, mezzanine firm, developer, or brokerage firm) or public accounting strongly preferred Familiarity with real estate fundamentals for retail, office, multi-family and industrial property types and capital markets Comprehensive understanding of net present value, internal rate of return, cap rates and discount rates. Must have analytical and organizational skills and be able to articulate fully the facts related to the transaction Ability to analyze financial statements (profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements) Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Strong analytical skills and resourcefulness necessary to complete in-depth industry and market analyses Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Argus, Excel, Word, and Power Point There will be some on-the-job training; however, the candidate should be a “self-starter” Required Competencies Championing Customer Needs: Provides timely and professional service to both internal and external customers; is responsive to customer needs and requests; is always courteous to the customer and considers the needs of the customer when making decisions.
