Duties

Wilder’s Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team is hiring a Certified Peer Specialist. This person will join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving the lives of Southeast Asian adults diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Peer Specialists are individuals who have experienced mental health issues themselves and have been trained to assist and support others with similar conditions. This firsthand experience helps Peer Specialists understand the experiences of their clients as they help to promote wellness and recovery. The Peer Specialist will help individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness to achieve personal wellbeing and to cope with stressors experienced when recovering from their mental illnesses through mentoring, service coordination and the promotion of empowerment, self-determination, coping skills, understanding and resiliency.

Duties and responsibilities include: Provide peer counseling by inspiring hope in individuals that recovery is possible. Help individuals discover their own strengths and develop their own recovery goals. Engage in collaborative and integrative care by serving as a liaison between the clinical team and individual to ensure each individual's needs and preferences are honored. Reach out to individuals and their networks of support to help them understand the recovery process and encourage them to participate in services/treatment. Coordinate resources and services to ensure individuals have what they need to succeed. Offer skill-building and symptom-management education. Explain documents/information to clients with marginal English language skills, as needed.

When you work at Wilder, you will join a diverse community of passionate individuals who are committed to the Wilder mission and dedicated to serving whole families.

Wilder's workplace diversity strengthens our mission and contributes to our vision of individuals and families thriving in St. Paul and beyond. We offer a dynamic Total Rewards package, which includes competitive compensation and benefits – health, dental, employer-matched 401(k), PTO, paid family, medical and caregiver leave, life insurance, disability insurance, flexible spending accounts and employee wellness programs.

In addition, you will have access to professional development opportunities, including development funding, tuition discounts, career development, and training opportunities. You will also have access to Wilder's inclusion, diversity and equity (WIDE) council, employee resource groups, and other DEI development opportunities available to all employees. Eligible federal loans may also qualify for deferment through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).
