The PositionAMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Engineering Technician (2nd Shift)-Junior to support Electromagnetic Environmental Effects. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required. To learn more about our surrounding location, please visit: Visit St. Mary’s. A typical day as an Engineering Technician (2nd Shift)-Junior may include:
Works day shift hours for training only-Normal working hours will be 2nd shift hours (2:30pm to midnight) once training is complete
Provides operations and maintenance support for Hangar 144 (shielded Hangar), the Aircraft Anechoic Test Facility (AATF) and the Advanced System Integration Laboratory (ASIL)
Assists with coordinating, scheduling and providing for Test Project Engineers’ aircraft, facility use and Support Equipment (SE) needs
Delivers SE to the Fleet Readiness Center (FRC) for preventative or unscheduled maintenance as required
Schedules and obtains SE from FRC for project support
Maintains fueling ground support equipment
Assists in aircraft fueling operations
Provides aircraft cooling air
Provides fire watch
Conducts purging of aircraft
Connects and operates hydraulic carts for aircraft operation
Activates/Deactivates the facilities fire alarm as required for test support and tracks
Performs required preventative maintenance
Operates government equipment such as forklift, man lift, tug and other equipment as required
Assists with crane rigging
Conducts facilities maintenance
Must-haves
HS Diploma or equivalent
1 years of relevant work experience
Experience using hand tools
Experience using computers
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Willingness to work overtime when required by testing schedule
Proactive attitude seeking out work
Positive attitude and the ability to work well with others
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Desired Skills
Previous experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks
Previous experience working around aircraft or at NAS Patuxent River
College degree or technical certification

Physical Environment And Working ConditionsThe physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc. The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site. In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site. In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required. The physical environment requires the employee to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs. and/or operating machinery to assist in the movement of heavy objects, such as forklifts and dollies.
