Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain

Job Summary: 

The Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain reports directly to the CFO and is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to optimize Ametrine’s production, supply chain, and vendor management operations. This key leadership role will manage and lead cross-functional teams, ensure the efficient flow of goods from suppliers to customers, and drive continuous improvement in purchasing, demand planning/material forecasting, capacity planning and sourcing, and master scheduling. This role also requires collaboration with Business Development and R&D/Engineering to ensure team alignment and successful execution of strategic planning initiatives. This position requires a leader that can develop detailed strategic plans to support manufacturing organizational growth plans and has the experience required to develop a well-balanced team that can support the future needs of the business.

Duties and Responsibilities 
Key Operations Functions Include:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive manufacturing strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Oversee processes, capacity planning, and resource allocation for maximum efficiency, cost reduction, and timely delivery
  • Accountable the management, maintenance, and enhancement of the ERP systems, ensuring they are optimized for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Foster a culture of improvement by implementing lean principles for streamlined processes
  • Provide leadership and direction across the manufacturing and facility teams in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Industry Guidelines & Regulations, OSHA, and corporate procedures
  • Establish and maintain strict quality control measures
  • Attract, retain, and develop a high-performing manufacturing team
  • Provide data-driven reports and metrics to guide decision-making

Key Supply Chain Functions Include:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive supply chain strategy that aligns with the company’s overall goals and objectives
  • Ensure that all supply chain activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Strategic management of supplier performance and future organizational needs to assess the ability to meet quality and delivery requirements
  • Oversee procurement/purchasing processes to ensure the required materials needed by operations are available at the most cost effective price to meet demand and quality standards
  • Maintain working knowledge of key markets, commodities and inputs, and established indicator metrics to identify price movements
  • Develop strong relationships with key suppliers and identify strategic sourcing alliances
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement within the supply chain, negotiating favorable contracts with vendors/suppliers.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address potential disruptions in the supply chain, such as supplier issues or economic fluctuation

Key Planning Functions Include:

  • Oversee Planning and Scheduling, which will work with demand planning to schedule production to meet established targets, as well as coordinate with procurement and logistics to supply the materials required to meet the schedule
  • Ensure every step of the process is functioning effectively to avoid costly delays and lost sales opportunities
  • Provide insights and recommendations to commercial counterparts based on market trends, competitor analysis, and industry dynamics
  • Streamline planning processes across various functions to enhance overall operational efficiency

Background, Experience, and Abilities 

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
    • Self-motivated, reliable, and solution-driven
    • Ability to mine and organize data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, translate data and complex
      findings into understandable documentation and effectively present findings and recommendations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Textile manufacturing experience preferred
  • Prior military experience preferred
  • 15 years of relevant leadership and operations experience.
    • Successful startup manufacturing experience
    • ERP experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to build and maintain effective working relationships
    • Ability to mediate differences of opinion and facilitate resolution when conflicts arise
    • Ability to build, motivate, and lead a team to execute and achieve company goals while maintaining schedule, scope, and budget
  • Responsiveness and prompt issue resolution required for both national and international partners
  • Ability to travel: ~25%, more in the first year
    The following activities are also required: reach (extending hands and arms in any direction), standing for long periods of time, walking (moving about to accomplish tasks), lifting (raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position), grasping (applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm), and repetitive motion (substantial moving of arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers) is required.

Other Requirements

  • Must be US Citizen (Or US National), per US government contracts
  • US security clearance or ability to obtain upon employment required.
  • Will require domestic and/or international travel.
  • Work hours generally 8am-5pm, Monday thru Friday, but additional work required.
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs.
