This position will be located within the Eastern Local School District located in Meigs County, Ohio. Salary: Per Established Teacher Salary Schedule. This is a nine month position with Board approved benefits. Position Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Special EducationAppropriate current State of Ohio teaching certification/licenseAlternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriateMust pass BCI and FBI background checks Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of academic area and teaching methodology including familiarity with Ohio Early Learning Development Standard (birth-five)Ability to work effectively with othersAbility to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both verbally and in writingEffective and active listening skillsOrganizational and problem-solving skillsGeneral computer skills Essential Functions:Ensure safety of all studentsTeach and evaluate students using sound instructional practicesManage classroom and individual student behavior effectively to maintain a safe environmentPrepare clear and timely lesson plans that meet required guidelinesMaintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required, including but not limited to staff and student files Provide guidance and counsel to the students which will promote their welfare and their proper educational developmentAttend and lead parent teacher conferences as conducted by the districtPrepare newsletters for parentsProvide complete lesson plans for substituteMake provisions to be available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional dayAssist the administration in implementing all procedures and rules governing student life and conduct, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure for the classroom, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just mannerTake necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilitiesMaintain confidentiality with student files and informationDemonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete, and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learnersIdentify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problemsTake steps to refer a child for special education services when necessaryServe as an active member of any special education team (ie. attend meetings, write relevant parts of the Evaluation Team Report and Individual Education Plan, and provide information/data for progress reports)Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parentsPromote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversationsAttend meetings and in-services as required by AMESC and the school district in order to maintain required hours for professional developmentEstablish and maintain cooperative relationships with parents through effective communications and conferencesObserve ethics of teaching profession; exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgmentMaintain record of student progressCreate a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of studentsNotify parents and administration if any student is not meeting classroom goals or expectationsMaintain and improve professional competence Other Duties and Responsibilities:Interact with public in official capacity when requiredInteract with Superintendent and/or Board of Education and present information as requestedServe as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beingsRespond to routine questions and requests in a timely, appropriate mannerEstablish and maintain cooperative professional relationshipsAssist in the determination of appropriate curriculum, materials, supplies, and texts in cooperation with Pre-School Coordinator and/or building PrincipalAttend professional growth seminars, workshops, and similar functions to keep current on relevant issuesDiscipline students as necessaryRefer attendance, health, and psychological/emotional problems to Principal and Preschool CoordinatorPerform other duties as assigned Application Process: Applicants should complete the online job application here and provide a cover letter, current resume, contact information for at least 3 professional references, and any other materials that support the applicant’s qualifications.Click the link above or copy and paste the following into your browser: https://forms.gle/ZFJxLztktGKVhSQV9Deadline to Apply: July 31, 2024For additional information contact:Mindy Ausseresses, Assistant Early Childhood CoordinatorAthens-Meigs ESC21 Birge Drive, P.O.
