Responsibilities

Primary Responsibility: A Data Architect will design, develop, manage and determine how an enterprise’s data will be stored and utilized. Identify strategic data requirements of an enterprise and design models to make sure such data requirements align with the architecture of the enterprise. Partnering with a cross-functional team, executive leadership, subject matter experts and master data stewards, to contribute to an overarching, holistic data governance strategy and enterprise-wide implementation of the strategy. Develop a business case for modernizing and expanding the enterprise's data warehouse to improve efficiency and provide employees with consistent and reliable access to key data. Creation and maintenance of up-to-date documentation pertaining to the definition of an enterprise wide data strategy, along with a roadmap for its execution. She/he will work with the business domain owners to develop the capabilities to analyze, design, develop, maintain and enhance data across the organization. Drive out the key global business requirements, work with cross-functional teams and heavily influence data related decisions and translate into workable requirements. Challenging any requests that may be unreasonable or unnecessary - and ultimately ensuring that project deliverables are met according to requirements. Create and provide structured training and/or content for other IT members. Provide detailed knowledge and support to all levels of the organization as required. Essential Functions: • Support business initiatives to ensure the enterprise follows best practices for data standards and data management. Examine data sets, identify patterns and use that information to help Americold to gain a competitive advantage • Envision data pipelines and how data will flow through the enterprise • Design, document, build and implement database architectures and applications • Build and support the capability to develop and optimize definition and specifications of data extraction, transformation and load for analytics and extending business system solutions • Manage the partnership with Data Integration Hubs around data modeling, data mappings, data validation, hierarchy management and overall security. Provide continuous enhancement and review of MDM matching rules, data quality and validation processes. • Determine upgrades and improvements to current data architectures • Build data models for database structures, analytics and AI applications • Creating inventory of enterprise’s master data and storing the data in an easily accessible manner while ensuring protection from unauthorized persons. • Integrate new systems and functions like security, performance, scalability, reliability and data recovery • Develop supporting Data Quality program and metrics. • Support and build in-house MDM skills around various MDM technologies, Data Quality tools, database systems, analytical tools and Big Data platforms. • Interface directly with business and process partners to understand their needs and objectives first-hand. • Collaborating with other sub-units of the enterprise architecture to develop data solutions and models for the organization’s needs, as well as partner with the enterprise’s management needs to create data models in line with the organization’s needs • Continually monitor, refine and report data management system performance • Research new opportunities and create methods to acquire data • Prepare time estimates for a project and detailed time estimate for each program within the project. • Work closely with the internal/external customer responsible to perform any tasks required as related to critical software and/or process alterations • Generation and compilation of corrective action documents, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues and follow through to deployment of solution. • Maintain detailed knowledge of where and how assigned disciplines are utilized across the organization. Close working relationship with the sites to create and maintain a cohesive and connected business system to support the needs of the business. • Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team (as applicable) promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience: • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. • Experience in data management systems and database platforms required • Experience in enterprise reporting and dashboard solutions, Power BI, etc. • Performs work with little to no supervision – provides guidance to lower-level & less experienced developers. Acts as project leader on large, complex projects. Maintains a senior-level workload. Fully capable of working at the highest technical level. Has 7 years of relevant experience with implementing enterprise data solutions • Database and cloud computing design, architectures and data lakes • Demonstrated planning, task organizing and execution skills • Programming languages, including Java, Python and C/C , as well as unified modeling language • Strong communications skills (written/verbal), with emphasis on demonstrated ability to translate complex concepts between business and technical groups. • Experience and/or knowledge of FMEA, ITIL, COBIT, ISO, and Project Management Methodologies • Strong customer service orientation • Ability to work in team-oriented environment Knowledge & Employment Standards: • Needs to be a first-class problem solver – Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail. Able to boil complex problems down to their constituent elements, and then formulate and evaluate a range of alternative solutions. Must have excellent conceptual design skills – an instinctive feel for which solutions ‘fit’ and which need rethinking • Experience with implementing, configuring and maintaining enterprise software applications such as WMS, Distribution, Transportation, and Labor Management, are a benefit • Machine learning, predictive modeling and natural language processing • Data management and reporting technologies, predictive analytics, data visualization and unstructured data • Knowledge of transportation and warehouse industries is a benefit Physical Requirements & Abilities: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
