Our clinical multidisciplinary approach to care delivers the correct intervention to each and every patient; each and every time through various pain management procedures including injections, open surgical cases with general anesthesia, physical therapy, and psychological services. Job Summary

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting the clinical team and providers with all aspects of patient care including, but not limited to, answering messages, obtaining medication prior authorizations, contacting physicians and pharmacies, accessing patient records in accordance with HIPAA standards, ensuring patient flow through the clinic and escorting patients to exam rooms, facilitating the collection of testing, and appropriately document patient’s vitals, medical history, and other applicable components of patient information into the EMR system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (What You’ll Do)

·Assist the clinical team with all aspects of patient care including, but not limited to; answering messages, obtaining medication prior authorizations, contacting physicians or pharmacies, record retrieval, and random pill counts.

·Assists the providers with the completion of medication prior authorizations and other forms as requested. Verifies and asks appropriate questions to determine what prior authorization may be required and facilitates the accurate completion of forms by applicable parties in a timely manner as not to delay needed patient care. 

·Contacts pharmacies to submit prescriptions for patients as dictated and documented by the attending provider with accuracy.

·Accesses patient records in accordance with HIPAA standards and enters accurate and complete medical documentation which includes, but is not limited to messages, clinical visits, interactions, and communication with patient and other healthcare providers.

·Ensures documentation for appropriate order and the correct medication list is attached to every UDT record. Reconciles each medication list on file with the patient at time of rooming. 

·Facilitate the flow of patients through the clinic by ensuring all patients are seen timely by provider, greet and escort the patients to and from the exam rooms. Manages time appropriately and utilizes efficient processes to keep patients on schedule and support reduced wait times. 

·Facilitate the collection of other testing which may include but are not limited to, MRSA swabs, Oral Mouth Swab, PGT testing. Ensures testing is appropriately documented and performed in accordance with the documented physician order. 

·Demonstrates compassionate and professional communication, relays accurate and complete information during each patient interaction. 

·Appropriately follows clinical practices for controlled substance inventory management through time stamped documentation as confirmed with signature by two parties, without exception. Reports or orders needed supplies as applicable per location processes.

·Return patient calls and document the action within EMR system. Triages effectively and dispatches to the appropriate areas 100% of the time. Always maintains professionalism and courteous tone and returns voicemails within 24 business hours 100% of the time.

·Document the assessment, vitals, patient’s subjective history and/or other applicable components of the patient information into the EMR (electronic medical record) system in a timely manner. Alert attending provider of any urgent issues or concerns presented by the patient or observed during the triage and assessment.

·Utilize universal precautions techniques for infection control within the practice. Ensures room has been appropriately sanitized and prepped for patient care.

Education and/or Experience Requirements

·High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

·Medical Assistant certificate a plus

·Typing test of 40 WPM
