American Oncology Network is Hiring a Pharmacy Specialist Clinician - Part Time Near Columbus, OH

$18.60 - $31.01
Position Summary: Maintains the ordering and stocking of medications and supplies as needed in the clinic. Under supervision of appropriate licensed healthcare professional as defined by State regulations, prepares and mixes medications. Coordinates with drug sales representatives, and pharmaceutical companies to obtain samples, teaching aids, and compassionate drugs. Acts as liaison between Physicians, Nursing, Pharmacy Supervisor and Purchasing in obtaining special order medications.
Required Qualifications: Minimum of three years' experience in the healthcare field, preferably in a clinical setting as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred. Following applicable state regulations, PTCB Certification or Registered as Pharmacy Technician is required. Medical terminology and attention to detail is desirable. Fluency in the English language as well as strong communication skills to interact with a wide variety of personalities. Must be willing to travel occasionally to educational and research meetings as well as training sessions. Valid State Drivers License for travel to clinics is required.
Key Performance Areas :
1. Under supervision of appropriate licensed healthcare professional as defined by State regulations, mixes chemotherapy drugs and solutions as prescribed by Physicians.
2. Contact drug representatives and pharmaceutical companies to obtain samples, compassionate drugs, and education materials.
3. Maintain necessary records pertaining to compassionate drugs.
4. Maintain necessary records pertaining to Clinical Study Trials, if applicable.
5. Maintain necessary documentation pertaining to ambulatory pumps.
6. Responsible for daily and annual maintenance of Chemotherapy hood.
7 Responsible for safe and compliant disposal of Biohazardous waste, if applicable. Maintains receipts pertaining to biohazard waste pick-up and ensures Accounting Office receives the receipt, if applicable.
8. Will have thorough knowledge of Nucleus medication dispensing system. Work with Pharmacy Supervisor to ensure par levels are maintained to assure sufficient stock and minimize waste.
9. Will assist in training of new nurses and pharmacy specialists in all aspects of preparation of chemotherapeutic medications. Assist in training regarding the Nucleus dispensing system.
10. Responsible for ordering, stocking and dispensing medical supplies as listed on the Medical Supply Sheet.
11. Review orders for next day with nursing staff to identify special drug needs.
12. Meetings: Attend annual Safety/OSHA training meetings. Attend all mandatory staff meetings as necessary.
13. Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all times.
14. Assist in training new employees to related job duties.
15. Will be expected to work at any AON location to help meet AON business needs.
16. Will be expected to work overtime when given sufficient notice of required overtime.
17. Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient's rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law. Adheres to AON and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Recovery Plan.
