This position is term-limited, benefits eligible: 18 to 24 months with possibility of extension. The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home and can be located anywhere in the United States, working East Coast hours. Typical days begin at 8:00am EST. About the job: The American Red Cross is searching for self-motivated and independent Software Quality Assurance Analyst to support the Biomedical Services Business Systems Integrations modernization efforts. This multi-year initiative focuses on large-scale software implementation and data management projects in a highly regulated environment. The Software Quality Assurance Analyst will support development, testing, validation and documentation of biomedical software by participating as an integral team member in various phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), providing guidance on established Red Cross procedures and regulatory requirements. Develops quality plans and recommends updates to existing procedures as required improving and/or strengthening the SDLC and Product Acquisition Life Cycle (PALC). What you will be doing: • Provide guidance and quality oversight of the development, testing strategy, validation, and documentation of biomedical software, ensuring compliance with established procedures and regulatory requirements. • Participate as an integral team member in various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), providing timely and meaningful feedback for project documentation including software requirements, design, test plans, test cases, and summary reports, and ensuring compliant quality product releases. Anticipates issues and develops consensus-based solutions by partnering with project teams. • Effectively collaborate as an internal quality consultant to advise or influence business or technical partners, providing guidance on quality and regulatory requirements, advising IT staff and management on quality and regulatory issues, and recommending solutions and best practices. • Identify and execute process improvements to strengthen internal procedures and processes and improve quality and efficiency. • Lead or participate on project teams, task forces, and other complex cross-functional teams. • Serve as a subject matter expert in Quality Assurance for software and hardware validation. • Identify and investigate software defects and other problems. Serves as an active participant in the development of corrective and preventive action plans, ensuring regulatory requirements are met. • Review and approve internal procedures, ensuring regulatory requirements are met, and focusing on procedure clarity and efficient processes. • Monitor and report on changing technology, practices, standards, and regulatory and compliance requirements within the biomedical industry. Scope: Individual contributor that works under limited supervision. Apply subject matter knowledge. Capacity to understand specific needs or requirements to apply skills/knowledge. Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. The American Red Cross does not sponsor employment visas. What we need from you: • 10 years experience in software quality assurance, software validation or software development • Knowledge and/or experience in an FDA-regulated environment required, background in medical devices or GMP is required. • Excellent understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), risk management, and configuration management • Exceptional verbal and written/documentation communications skills to work with all levels of staff and external clients. • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment • Other unit-specific experience or qualifications may be required. Skills & Abilities: Ability to provide innovation solutions and consult on multiple projects and/or initiatives. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively, analyze problems, recommend appropriate solutions, and assimilate information quickly. Proficient with Microsoft office applications. • Travel: May travel 10-20% Education: • 4-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. The legal stuff: Essential Functions/Physical Requirements: Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions. Work Conditions: Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work. May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system. Because the Red Cross is a disaster response organization, staff may be asked to be on 24-hour call during period of major disaster.
