American Marketing Association is Hiring a Remote Junior WordPress Developer (Remote Opportunity)

We’re actively seeking a Junior WordPress Developer to join the Technology team at the American Marketing Association!

We have major projects on the docket that you will play a key role in developing, such as: revamping our ecommerce system (with WooCommerce), creating data dashboards, and integrating the internal & third-party APIs through which all of our data flows. You’ll work collaboratively with other developers at the AMA to create cutting edge solutions using WordPress, AWS and much more. As a Junior WordPress Developer, you will gain valuable experience in your field and open up doors to even more fun and challenging opportunities.

Junior WordPress Developer Core Job Responsibilities

  • Create new features on AMA’s WordPress platform (www.ama.org)
  • Participate in code reviews of their own work and others in order to improve the code quality and stability of the platform
  • Write code that interacts with both internal and third-party APIs (Salesforce, Mailchimp, etc.)
  • Work with the development team, stakeholders and project management in effectively communicating estimates, risks and project status
  • Create and update code, system and process documentation as needed
  • Interact and collaborate with vendors as needed
  • Work closely with other developers to manage releases

What You Have

  • Two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of WordPress production development experience
  • Two years of HTML, CSS and Javascript experience
  • One year working with git as source control
  • A good team player, ability to learn quickly, excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work with limited direction on tasks and priorities, keeping the project management system updated
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors

  • Experience working with third-party REST or GraphQL APIs
  • System administration experience
  • Open source contributions
