Job Description:

  • Collaborate with the Director and Course Coordinators in planning and implementing student learning laboratory experiences as appropriate for each course level.

  • Facilitate the preparation of students to perform clinical skills safely and effectively.

  • Ensure simulation-based education practices - development, implementation and assessment of all simulations.

  • Coordinate all nursing learning laboratory simulation experiences, including hi and low fidelity, for student demonstration and evaluation of competent nursing skills based on student learning outcomes.

  • Coordinate activities in nursing lab i.e., validations, skills lab, practice labs, open labs, etc.

  • Participates in MBORN compliance/approval, CCNE accreditation process and the Division of Nursing Systematic Evaluation Plan (SEP), adhering to all designated policies and procedures required for each and producing outcomes designated for each.

  • Participate in program assessment and review and revision of the curriculum plan as part of the ongoing design and continuous implementation of assessment of student learning outcomes and academic program improvement for the Division of Nursing.

  • Participate in identifying future developments in health care systems that will impact clinical, simulations and learning laboratory experiences.

  • Collaborate with course coordinators and learning lab coordinator in developing related laboratory and simulation needs.

  • Maintain Centralized Clinical Placement Grid (CCP) and represent college at all CCP meetings or communications in collaboration with the Assistant Director.

  • Maintain learning lab resources: monitor inventory, safely store hazardous materials, coordinate repairs of equipment as needed, order supplies.

  • Maintain accurate learning laboratory equipment and supplies inventory.

  • Other duties assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Nursing.

  • Assist with annual review and evaluation of all learning laboratory experiences and program evaluation as part of the SEP.

  • Conduct tours and simulation sessions for internal and external groups and/or individuals visiting the campus.

  • Establish and monitor procedures for use of simulation equipment and conducting simulation experiences.

  • Maintain an active, unencumbered nursing license in the State of Massachusetts, including completion of required continuing education for simulation preparation for certification or certification.

  • Serve on division of nursing committees as assigned by director.

Requirements:

  • Required Degree(s): MSN

  • Preferred Degree(s): DNP

  • Required Field of Expertise: Nursing

  • Required Training/Cert: Simulation/Skills Lab

  • Preferred Training/Cert: Simulation

  • Required Licensure(s): licensure as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts, or have the ability to obtain licensure in Massachusetts

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong commitment to high quality instruction in a diverse, student-centered environment and the ability to work with students with various learning styles and backgrounds.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite; experience with health care equipment and technology, experience with or willingness to learn use of educational technology.

  • Experience and interest in simulation experiences including design, development, implementation, and assessment of scenarios and student performance.

  • Knowledge of standard procedures of nursing skills and pedagogy for nursing student teaching/learning.

Additional Information:

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, exempt level, benefit eligible position. Normal department office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., flexible to the needs of the department. This is a 10-month position scheduled for 35 hours per week from mid-August through mid-June.
