The American Express Design Language System saves teams time and resources by providing ready to use front-end components and design guidelines that bring consistency to the American Express customer journey. Containing over 300 plug-and-play components and styles, DLS supports multiple frameworks today and is looking to expand their web components. Carefully maintained guidelines provide clear rules as well as best practices to help teams adopting the design system and setting the standard in design across the enterprise. By providing DLS to the entire enterprise, we are able to dramatically improve teams’ strategic agility, speed to market, transparency, and the business value they drive.
The library and guidelines are maintained by a team of designers, product managers, and engineers that are constantly working to evolve the library through user research, testing and ideation.
The Role
As a Designer on the DLS team, you will be a key player on a small-but-mighty team that drives impact across the entire enterprise. You will work on all aspects of the design system, from creating new components and assets to updating guidelines or conducting audits on how the design system is performing. You will be expected to not only pick up planned work from the backlog, but proactively bring new suggestions and ideas to the team on how to continuously improve our product. As a member of the DLS, you will be both a contributor to the library but also an advocate within the community. This may take the form of troubleshooting issues over Slack or giving presentations to other teams.

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
