The U.S. Consumer Services and Enterprise Digital & Data Technology Team brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering (Mobile and Web), AI/ML, marketing technology, enterprise communications, travel and lifestyle, and automation, grounded in our data technology model that prioritizes data governance. It employs a ground-breaking focus with development responsibilities for customer-facing capabilities that deepen and expand digital engagement, as well as core technical capabilities that cut across business lines and customer segments.

This team is responsible for Global Customer Personalization products which including API development, batch components and other technology solutions using technologies such as Java, Python, Spring Core, Spring Boot, TestNG, Cucumber & Javascript. This young team has delivered industry leading products with many firsts in the organization. Today we support 21 channels (including Web, Mobile, Voice, Email), daily volume of ~11MM transactions a day and support content across Card, Servicing, Merchant & Membership Reward offers and are expanding rapidly with a focus on building a Global Customer Personalization Product with a focus on driving omni-channel experience for our Card members by delivering world-class innovative.

How will you make an impact in this role?

Key Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Own all technical aspects of software development for assigned applications
  • Perform hands-on architecture, design, and development of systems
  • Functions as senior member of an agile team and helps drive consistent development practices with respect to tools, common components, and documentation
  • Primary focus (70% ) is spent writing code, API specs, conducting code reviews & testing in ongoing sprints or doing proof of concepts/automation tools, collaborating with stakeholders through ongoing product/platform releases
  • Develops deep understanding of tie-ins with other systems and platforms within the supported domains
  • Performs ongoing refactoring of code, uses visualization and other techniques to fast-track concepts, and deliver continuous improvement
  • Finds opportunities to adopt innovative technologies & ideas
  • Provides continuous support for ongoing application availability
  • Works with product owners to prioritize features for ongoing sprints and managing a list of technical requirements based on industry trends, new technologies, known defects, and issues
  • Apply best-of-breed technologies to build microservices over existing American Express technologies
  • Build POCs to experiment new technologies and constantly pursue and learn industry leading/innovative technologies and solutions
  • Collaborate/influence within and across teams to create successes with an innovative mentality to challenge the status quo.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other Technical field or equivalent work experience
  • 10 years of experience with Object-Oriented Design and coding with variety of languages.
  • 6 Experience in Java, Spring/Spring boot
  • Hands on experience of Core Java concepts including Collection, multithreading, Advance Java features
  • Hands on experience in building REST APIs
  • Experience in RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong Object-Oriented Programming skills and design patterns
  • Experience in Microservice
  • Proficient in cloud computing technologies.
  • Proficient with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with TDD, BDD and unit testing.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) environment and their frameworks
  • Good knowledge and experience with configuration management tools like GitHub
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude
  • Good communication skills and teamwork
  • Open-minded and passionate about learning new technologies
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and leverage them to their optimal potential

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in Personalization domain.
  • Prior experience in high volume, critical, complex and customer applications
  • Exposure to Big Data technologies HBase, Hive, Hadoop, Spark etc.

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits
