American Concrete Products is Hiring a Plant Manager Near Kansas, KS

Summary:

The Plant Manager directs all production and production-related activity from ordering and receiving of raw materials to the storage of finished product in the yard; directs and coaches individuals who head up Production, Carpenter Shop, Steel Shop, Finish, Yard Operations, and Maintenance; communicates and collaborates with department foremen and Quality Control personnel to optimize production quality and workflow; assists the General Manager in interpreting and administering company policy and procedures.

  • Establishes and manages production schedules and table utilization.
  • Conducts daily production meetings regarding production schedules, opportunities for improvement, and to ensure ongoing organizational teamwork.
  • Directs the production of precast products to ensure that specifications requirements are consistently met or exceeded; including fabrication of forms, determination of mix designs, preparation of samples, construction and stripping of precast products, finishing and yarding.
  • Maintains abreast of current projects, potential schedule changes, change orders, shipping requirements, and other project obligations.
  • Monitors actual production labor costs per panel versus the labor costs established in the bid.
  • Collaborates with the General Manager regarding project status, production scheduling and fabrication.
  • Works in partnership with the Steel Shop Coordinator to ensure that all steel items are on hand and assembled in a manner that optimizes production.
  • Maintains a strong relationship with Foreman and the Yard Manager to ensure that finished products are stored in an efficient and accessible manner, utilizing erection sequences as a resource whenever possible.
  • Works with Maintenance to ensure that repair and maintenance activities are carried out in a cost-effective and timely manner and coordinated to meet production needs.
  • Establishes and manages a process that ensures follow up on repairs and rework; determines and provides solutions to fix underlying causes of poor quality.
  • Collaborates with Quality Control personnel to ensure that production is done in accordance with QC requirements/standards.
  • Assumes responsibility for ordering all chemicals, cement, aggregate, lumber, rebar, and other supplies and materials related to production.
  • Ensures that good housekeeping is maintained in the plant and upholds all Safety Standards and Expectations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises all plant foreman, maintenance, carpentry and steel shop employees.
  • Reviews performance of team members to identify development needs and opportunities.
  • Provide training & coaching to team members for success.
  • Delegate work flow according to roles, responsibilities and skill set.
  • Continuously develop strong team players and promote from within.
  • Conduct yearly performance reviews.
  • Serves as a role model for employees with regard to attendance, loyalty, mutual respect and support for organizational teamwork and continuous process improvement.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, technical specifications, cost analyses and governmental regulations.
  • Experience writing procedures, business correspondence and technical reports.
  • Effectively present ideas and information to employees, managers, customers and vendors.
  • Knowledge of reading and understanding construction documents for building projects.
  • Ability to apply concepts of mathematics to the work environment, to develop and utilize statistical information, and to perform cost/benefit analyses related to potential process and equipment changes.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and develop logical and innovative solutions.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position will be required to wear all Safety Equipment while working in the plant. The noise level is typically loud on the production floor and maybe exposed to extreme temperatures while in the plant and yard.
