POSITION SUMMARY

As the Quality Engineer you will be responsible for supporting the Quality Manager to implement, maintain and improve the quality management system (QMS).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES

  • Interface in a professional manner with all other functions within the organization and with customers and suppliers on all types of quality-related issues.
  • Analyze and investigate product complaints or reported quality issues with a goal of mitigating effects and preventing recurrence.
  • Perform root cause analysis and preventive/corrective action activities.
  • Perform risk analysis.
  • Perform inspection and testing activities to determine compliance to requirements.
  • Develop and implement processes that focus on scrap and rework reduction.
  • Participate in MRB activities.
  • Recommend improvements to support company quality objectives and a continual improvement philosophy.
  • Perform contract/specification review activities.
  • Assist purchasing department efforts in supplier quality assurance and provide input/criteria for supplier sourcing.
  • Provide training to other personnel.
  • Create AS9102 first article inspection reports and any other reports, presentations, procedures, or documents required by the QMS.
  • Assist in the RMA process.
  • Help ensure AS9100, ISO 9001, and ESD S20.20 compliance, including performing internal and supplier audits, and hosting auditors.
  • Cross-train on other QA/QC jobs to provide support and coverage during absences, peak workloads, etc.
  • Be open to learning new things.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications


SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in a manufacturing discipline/technical field (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, etc.) is preferred
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent is required
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in a quality-related position in a manufacturing environment.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Functional knowledge of Electronics Manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Knowledge of IPC-610 and/or J-STD-001, CIS or CIT certification is a plus.
  • ASQ certification is a plus.
  • Experience in the use of a wide range of quality tools, terminology, methods, statistical techniques, sampling plans, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management system standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with clients, employees and management
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Ability to read and understand standards, drawings, procedures, and specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with basic measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, microscopes, multimeters, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to hazards (chemical, mechanical, and/or radiant energy). The employee may be required to wear protective clothing such as heel straps and a lab coat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All of the work will be performed indoors.
