Job Summary:

As an Electronic Health Record (EHR) Trainer, you will be responsible for facilitating the training and education of healthcare professionals on the use of electronic health record and coordinating systems. Your role will involve developing training materials, conducting training sessions, and providing ongoing support to ensure efficient and effective utilization of EHR systems. In this role, you will be responsible for connecting with colleagues, building rapport, and fostering collaboration through effective communication methods to support the training and on-going utilization of electronic health record (EHR) systems within our fast-paced and dynamic organization. Additionally, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to identify training needs and implement strategies to enhance user proficiency and system functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct training sessions (on-site/in office): Deliver engaging and informative training sessions to healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, both in group settings and one-on-one sessions (travel required).

Collaborate cross-functionally: Work collaboratively with colleagues from various departments, including clinical, administrative, and IT teams, to coordinate training efforts, gather feedback, and implement improvements to EHR training programs and materials and meet department needs.

Foster open communication: Establish and maintain open lines of communication with colleagues, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment conducive to sharing ideas, addressing concerns, and resolving issues related to EHR training and utilization.

Adapt communication style: Tailor communication style and approach to accommodate the preferences and needs of diverse audiences, recognizing individual differences in communication preferences, technical proficiency, and learning styles.

Clarify expectations: Clearly communicate expectations, objectives, and timelines related to EHR training initiatives, ensuring alignment, and understanding among all stakeholders. Provide regular updates and progress reports to keep colleagues informed and engaged.

Evaluate training effectiveness: Assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback mechanisms and performance evaluations and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.

Maintain documentation: Keep detailed records of training activities, including attendance, feedback, and performance metrics, to track progress and demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.

Support system upgrades and migrations: Support EHR System Administrator in planning and execution of EHR system upgrades, migrations, and implementations by providing training and support to users.

Promote best practices: Promote best practices for EHR documentation, data entry, and workflow optimization to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and patient care quality.

Promote a culture of continuous learning: Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development among healthcare professionals by promoting ongoing training opportunities, resources, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Provide responsive support: Respond promptly to inquiries (via tickets, emails, phone calls, meeting requests, etc…), requests for assistance, and feedback from colleagues, demonstrating a proactive and customer-focused approach to addressing their needs and concerns.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience working with electronic health record systems, preferably as a trainer or superuser.

- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively via multiple communication channels, including phone, email, video conferencing, and instant messaging platforms.

- Strong knowledge of healthcare workflows and clinical documentation practices.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and educate diverse audiences.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to create, customize, and share documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and communication materials.

- Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and visualize data using Microsoft Excel or other data analysis tools. Familiarity with data visualization techniques and reporting best practices is desirable.

- Proficiency in developing training materials using various media formats, such as PowerPoint, Word, and video editing software.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing user needs and system challenges.

- Certification in relevant EHR systems (CareLogic; QuickMAR, DrFirst, etc…) is a plus.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to use computer, keyboard and view monitor for long periods of time.

Work Environment:

Must be able to work independently; work and communicate with other professionals in an effective and professional manner; must have good time management skills and meet required deadlines.
