 Position Description Job

Title: Maintenance Worker

FLSA: Non-Exempt Job Status: Full Time – 2nd Shift (start time 2 pm)

Reporting Functions: Reports to the Director of Facilities and Grounds Indirect reports include all school administrators

Job Function: To provide both janitorial and maintenance work for various school properties. Duties include but are not limited to the security of the school and school sports complex, maintaining the gymnasium, and cleaning all locker rooms including bathrooms.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist the Director of Facilities and Grounds with the day-to-day operations of the school Maintenance Department.

2. Be responsible for the daily upkeep, maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and security of all Berks Catholic High School buildings and grounds. This includes but is not limited to, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, removal of garbage, painting, recycling, field maintenance, and line painting. Provide general maintenance and repairs when necessary.

3. Assure that the school grounds are maintained. This includes: mowing the grass, watering and edging of the lawns, weeding, pruning, and raking on a seasonal basis.

4. Perform preventative maintenance around the school as directed by the Director of Facilities and Grounds.

5. Maintain accurate records of all scheduled events occurring within the Berks Catholic High School campus.

6. Oversee the security of the school building at the end of each school day. This includes locking all classroom doors and windows, locking all outside entrances, turning off all required lights, and alarming the school security system.

7. Be “on call” during non-school hours to respond to alarms and/or fire calls to the school.

8. Oversee the security of the school Sports Complex. Be available on weekends to open and close the complex as needed for various sporting events. This includes being available for various CYO events. FT Maintenance Page 2 Berks Catholic High School-Reading, PA

9. Maintain the school gymnasium daily. This includes but is not to sweeping and mopping all floors; cleaning all water fountains; wiping down all doors; cleaning bleachers including the area underneath; keeping the stage clean and removing trash daily.

10. Maintain all school locker rooms daily. This includes but is not limited to: cleaning all bathrooms including coaches' rooms; cleaning and sanitizing toilets and urinals; cleaning and sanitizing all showers; refilling all toilet paper, paper towels, and soap dispensers; emptying sanitary containers; sweeping and mopping entire locker room area (upper and lower) including stairwell and ramp; dust all lockers including the tops and remove all garbage.

11. Be available on weekends to clean locker rooms after each Friday night football game or other athletic events that utilize the school lockers.

12. Be available to assist various school organizations (PTO, Athletic Boosters, etc.) when necessary.

13. Any additional duties assigned by the Director of Facilities and Grounds and/or school administrators.

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR ABILITIES

  • High School Diploma,
  • At least 5 years experience in maintenance.
  • At least 5 years experience in cleaning/janitorial duties.
